The Birthday Surprise

It was your birthday today.

And like all days, you should have been happy. But you weren't.

Why?

Because nobody in the whole tower had even remembered to say anything about it.

Not even Peter! And he tries not to forget on most occasions.

You understood that Tony was most likely busy, and Clint had a family of his own. But it still hurt all the same.

Right now, you were sulking in your room, staring at the TV and the characters on the screen. Even they were happy. It was unfair.

Your family hadn't even bothered to call either. Which broke your heart even more than it already was.

Usually, you wouldn't be like this if someone forgot your birthday. But you were turning twenty-one. You wanted someone to take you out for drinks or something!

You didn't expect anything less from your parents though. They usually forgot anyways.

Especially since you became an Avenger and moved to New York. They considered you a freak of nature, and only contacted you if they needed something. (Mainly money)

Sighing, you decided to go take a long shower. Maybe that would make you feel better.

You could only hope.

You were not wrong after all.

The Avengers had been so busy in what they were doing today. So when Loki had brought up your twenty-first birthday, everyone was in a panic.

Bucky and Thor were raiding the shelves in the kitchen, voting on food being the best (and closest) present they could give you.

Nat wasn't as panicked, but she felt bad that she forgot your birthday. As did Tony, clint and Peter.

Loki was a bit proud of himself for remembering. And he wanted to brag about it.

But you were more important right now.

Tony was deep in thought, staring off into space.

"A midgardians twenty-first birthday is important, is it not?" Loki asked.

Clint looked at him. "Yeah. All the fun stuff we get to do become legal for a person." He chuckled.

Natasha rolled her eyes. "Murder is not legal, clint." She turned to Loki. "He just means that she can drink without any lawful interruptions."

Loki nodded. "And you all forgot this most important day?"

Tony glared at him. "We've been busy. It's not like we meant to. Besides, she'll probably understand. No one could be that upset from not having a birthday."

Oh was Tony wrong.

It was about 2 hours until midnight,  and you were absolutely beside yourself.

Your parents forgetting your birthday was one thing.

But your friends? The ones you worked with, and saw, everyday? They shouldn't have forgot. And it made you angry.

You were about to head down to the kitchen, figuring you were going to get a drink. But once you stepped outside your bedroom door, your foot came in contact with light green paper.

You looked at the paper for a moment before picking it up.

It had neat writing on it. Too clean for a simple midgardian. It could only come from royalty.
