Ava was in her room that evening arranging her desk when her cellphone rang. She hardly received phone calls, so she was curious as to who it was.

Evelyn was sitting on her bed looking through her diary and curiously turned to Ava, also wanting to know who was calling her.

'Hello?' Ava answered the phone, staring outside the window.

'Hey it's me your counselor,' Jiaqi greeted her on the other end. 'I just wanted you to save my number.

'Oh fine,' Ava answered unwillingly. Everything about the club annoyed her, and the fact that her former crush now turned good boy was her counselor almost felt like salt on the wound.

'Since we're gonna be working a lot together, you should fee free with me. I'm actually a good guy.'

'You almost killed someone.' she answered coldly.

Evelyn quickly understood that Ava was talking to Jiaqi, and she chuckled lowly. For some reason, Jiaqi always made Evelyn laugh since he was now apparently a goody two shoes.

Jiaqi took a deep sigh on the other end. 'I think we shouldn't talk about that. This counselling is about you anyway, it's not about me.'

'Well for me to trust the counselor, he's got to have a clean record.'

'Nah, I think the counselor should know what it's like to be bad and to finally change. You can't trust someone who's never walked in your shoes.'

'Hmm, good point.'

'I know. So feel free. Talk to you later I guess.' Jiaqi hang up without waiting for a response.

Ava didn't have to worry too much, as long as she wasn't going to approach Jiaqi, then there would be no reason for them to communicate and for her to get angry. It wasn't as bad as she thought at the end of the day.

'Jiaqi called you!?' Evelyn asked even though she already knew the answer. 'Why the hell hasn't Chengxin called me then?'

Ava cracked a smile. 'I don't know, maybe because you guys already talked a lot this afternoon at the club.'

'No we didn't really talk a lot,' she admitted, 'I did all the talking and my counselor was not at all interested in what I was saying. It's like he doesn't even care...anyway it doesn't matter, I'm going to make up so many problems to get to him if that's the case.'

It was somewhat funny to Ava, she didn't want to express any problems whether real or fake to her counselor, but she received a call. On the other hand, Evelyn who desperately wanted to talk to her counselor didn't.

...

Jiaqi was riding his orange bike to his place. He was just coming from an ice cream store, and was glad that he was now allowed to have some time to travel alone, unlike the first days where his parents were so concerned about his suicide attempt and feared that he would try it again.

It was about 5 pm when Jiaqi got off his bike and took it to the garage. He propped it against the wall and was about to walk in, but he heard voices inside that sounded like an argument. He tried to be silent and listen attentively.

'I can hardly stand you.' Mr. Ma declared.

'You think I can stand you!? You irritate me!' Mrs. Ma shot next. 'The only reason we're staying together right now is because of Jiaqi.'

Jiaqi sighed as he listened to the conversation.

'And when Jiaqi is better, I'm leaving you.' Mr. Ma answered. 'It's not as if Jiaqi does much anyway. Failing in school and getting in trouble is the only thing he's good at. Too bad this is my responsibility.'
