So currently I'm having a private audience with the king, not a public one where I am on my knees and my hands handcuffed behind my back.

Those are always fun.

So the three main revelations ordered from the least to most important-

1) I'm gonna die.

2) Akemi-san got freaking kidnapped.

3) I MISSED LUNCH!!!!!

So things are fine for the most part-

Okay, who the heck am I even kidding.

I FREAKING MISSED LUNCH.

THINGS ARE NOT FINE.

Anyways.

About the other thing, the thing where I die.

So the king has basically told me that Mr. Dragon inside me will suck out all my life force, but since I managed to summon it and form a Spirit beast contract with it, my death is delayed for a few years.

Things are fine...

WAIT NO!!

I can't eat if I am dead.

Oh and also I can't find my parents, thats a bit of a downside.

So, now Mr. Dragon possesses me and gives a solution to my death.

I'm going to travel to all of the other 6 shrines and getting spirit energy from all the other Legendary Spirits. Then apperantly it will create a special Elixer, which can fulfil Mr. Dragon's cravings permanently.

Now, it does sound like a scam, but it's my only hope if I want to be able to eat food.

Oh and, also find my parents.

So, the question now probably arises, that why does the king care about my death?

Don't worry it's not something stupid like 'He cares about each one of his subjects regardless of class' or whatever.

It's because, all the 7 Legendary Spirits have maintained a sort of harmony over the years.

And apperantly Mr. Dragon wants to break that harmony by getting stronger.

A human doesn't contain much spirit energy, but what he does contain in bulk, is life force.

A single human's entire stock of life force is enough for even that strong-looking dragon's powers to grow fivefold.

Yea, it's a lot.

Life force is maximum at birth, and then decreases as it is used up, until it's exhausted and the person dies.

And Mr. dragon's planning to suck out all of mine.

Bad dragon.

So now, two of the things are solved.

The third and final problem-

"So about Akemi's kidnapping", the king said, "You were the last person seen with her, so people led speculations about you being the kidnapper's accomplice"

"I can see that"

"So, would you care explaining exactly what happened?"

I narrated the entire thing.

Not missing anything.

Nuh-uh.

I sorta don't like the idea of Akemi-san being kidnapped.

I stopped, waiting for him to think and speak.

He bent down and started thinking.

After a moment of silence, he spoke again.

"I see, so, as the Dragon said over at the courhouse, the ground shaking is out of the question, but the main problem is that barrier"

"Mr. Dragon didn't do it, as he said"

"I see that, so I think I know what to do. I'll immediately conduct an investigation at the shrine."

Relieved.

"Thank you for letting me in your presence"

Formalities. No compromises with formalities.

"Dismissed."

I set out for the door, but, i wanted to ask him a thing too. I turned around back to him.

"Could I request you something if you don't mind?"

"Sure, go on"

"Could I be in the investigation squad that investigates the princess' case?"

"..........Fine, go meet Kentaro-san at the barracks, get a horse, and be ready for my orders. You're officially a Spirit Corps member"

"Yes, thank you, your majesty"

"You will get your ID, your uniform and your Pass from Kentaro-san"

So now I'm in Operation: Save the Princess.

Great.

And I am a Spirit Corps member.

Also great.

Why I joined the squad?

Dunno I just, wanted to learn something from her.

What did that wall of symbols really say back at the shrine.

I know, curiosity kills the cat.

I just, would get bored staying back there.

I can't really just eat food while the princess of the kingdom is kidnapped, is she?

I exited the room and got the instructions to the barracks from a random guard and ran.

I eventually reached.

I met Kentaro-san who was, in the horse-pen.

He was the commander of the Spirit Corps 2nd Division.

I told him my situation, except the dragon part, the king forbade me from telling that to anyone.

He sat down on a nearby stool and started to think.

Please let me in.

Please let me in.

"You're in, get a horse from there and wait in the resting area."

YESSSSS!!!

I'm officially in.

"Yes sir."

He gave me my uniform, my Id and my pass.

Oh my good is it comfy.

Aaaaaaaaahhhhhh-

Well it's certainly better than my ragged clothes.

I wore the pants I was given and kept the coat open.

And the ID and Pass in my pocket.

I'm ready.

Bring it on.
