"Ugh..." You awake to Sanford hovering above you, a concerned look, almost one of fear.
"What do you want...? Let me sleep I got to bed late last night." You close your eyes and cover your head with your blanket, knowing that Sanford wasn't going to leave.
"No, Y/n...you need to see this." The worry in his voice pawned you to wake, begrudgingly you rub your eyes and take his hand, him leading you to the basement.
"Please tell me Hank already set the Agent free..." Sanford nervously chuckles and covers your eyes, leading you hesitantly into the room."Don't try and pull some romantic proposal you guys...I'm not ready for marriage just ye-"
"OH MY GOD-" You slide down the concrete wall tears immediately run down your face. This..
This was the one time where a dead body made you disgusted. You don't know how, because you've gotten used to corpses. But immediately you were sick to the stomach as you watch the blood dry to his shirt, the stench of his blood making you want to throw up. Sanford reached down to touch you, to comfort you, to do anything to stop your sadness, but you just smacked his hand away. Hugging your knees and hiding your face to cover up your gut-wrenching sobs of terror, of guilt, of sadness. Sanford bent down and wrapped his arms around you, doing his best to comfort his friend, your hyperventilating self slowly calmed down over the time of 10 minutes, until you picked your head up to see a blurry Sanford with a solem smile.
"Let's go lay down..." he blankly said, picking you up and going into his room. He laid you down and covered you with his blanket, laying down beside you.
"Do you...do you know who did this...was it-" He nodded, it made you flinch to the side, you could feel your tears gloss over your eyes once more. Your stomach churned, but this was of anger, your tears...were of anger. You were...mad at Hank, you wanted to, hurt him, why would he do this you just wanted information. You weren't going to do anything to him, so why...You cried again, you were mad at just, everything. You wanted to hurt Hank, kill him for what he did, make him cry and regret his actions, w-why? Why now, after all that's happened you should know that this would've happened eventually. Hiding out with Sanford and Hank, having near death experiences, is this re-
"I'm back." You hear Hank's muffled voice coming in through the door, Sanford leaving you to meet him. As you heard them talk the tips of your fingers began to twitch, then shake, until you couldn't control it. You clench your jaw and squeeze out a tear of frustration as the voices get closer, eventually coming into the room.
"So why is she so mad?" Hank replied back to Sanford, in the blank monotone voice that he always had. Only now it sounded more mocking than deadpan. You pop your head up and stare at them both, sitting up and walking over to Hank. You wrap your arms around his waist, trying your best to squeeze as hard as you could.
"Umm...Y/-""Why...? Why'd you do it?" You barely get those words pass the large lump in your throat, choking back your tears once more.
"You're going to have to be more specific Y/n. I did a lot of things.""Why'd you kill him Hank, the agent, I thought we were going to set him free?" He sighs and rubs your back, not responding and making you even more frustrated and even more likely to start sobbing uncontrollably.
"You're being irrational, even if we did set him free, then all he would do is just report back to the Auditor and this cycle would start all over again. I was doing this to protect you Y/n, you should thank me." With those words you disconnected from him, puzzled.
"You don't know that...He could've been better, he could've-...he could've..." You knew what to say, but didn't know how to say it. You just didn't want to be in his presence right now.
You rush towards the door, Sanford grabs onto your wrist, shaking his head slightly. A pit forms in your stomach, you look around at the house, the blank beige walls that used to be a pearl white, the 2 small steps separating the living room and the kitchen. The hallway to their bedrooms that held unspeakable secrets. The sadistic view of the basement door ajar.
"Was this worth it...?"
