Time skip
It has been four month since baby Maria was born, almost six since Angel's mother passed away. She missed her mother dearly. She still cried at night, dreaming about the way she found her.
Opie and Jax did everything they could to help her get through the misery. While she appreciated their efforts, she mostly needed her brother and her Lady Bug. Her brother would visit her and the baby everyday. They drew strength from each other by being in the others presence.
Gemma visited every morning before heading to TM. Sometimes, she would find her best friend sitting at the dining table stating off in space. Angel would try to put on a smile for her, but Gemma could see right through it. But with every interaction with little Maria, she could see a bit of light in her eyes, and glimpses of her best friend before the tragedy.
When the club had church, and Clay needed her at the table, she would call the nanny they hired, Emily. Emily was also Maria's pediatrician. She had flexible hours, working part-time at St Thomas and part-time as a nanny.
Gemma was wary of the 30 year old blonde for the first couple of weeks. She never liked strangers taking care of her children and the same went for her granddaughter. But, after a lot of interrogating and supervising, she thought of the woman as another member of the family.
Another couple months passed and Angel was gradually getting back to her old self. She didn't have those dreams anymore and was back to doing jobs, both for the club and outside the club.
She was currently on her way to the clubhouse, since Clay had called church. She pulled into the lot and backed into her spot. She took off off her helmet and shook out her hair and looked around.
She spotted her boyfriend's at one 9f the picnic tables and approached them, giving each a kiss on the cheek. They both gave her a loving smile and returned the gesture.
"Hey, babe. We should head in, it's almost time for church." Jax said, standing up. He grabbed her hand while Opie grabbed the other and they walked inside heading into the Reaper room.
Jax pulled her seat out for her and she smiled, sliding into it. Happy side hugged her and kissed her temple in greeting. After everyone was seated, Clay began the meeting.
"All right, now that everyone is here, let's get started. Angel, first I would like to say that you seem to be doing better." She nodded in agreement. "And second, Gemma wanted me to run something by everyone. We have a visitor in town, a few actually." He turned to his VP. "Tara is around." Then he glanced at everyone else. "And we're also having a problem with ATF. Unser is trying to handle it, and apparently there was a witness at our last drop." He explained.
Jax blew out a breath of frustration and glanced between Opie and Angel. He hadn't seen Tara since she left all those years ago. He couldn't figure out why she would return and hoped she wouldn't stir up trouble. He was happy now, happier than ever before. He hoped that Angel didn't doubt his love for her. And glancing at her face, she had an unreadable expression.
Tension was palpable in the room. Angel knew all about Tara Knoweles. How she was Jax's first love, his high school sweetheart. Things like that, people don't always get over completely. Yes, she knew that Jax loved her. But was it enough? Could Tara somehow worm her way back into Jax's heart? Would she lose him?
All these questions swam through her mind, but she didn't let her fears show. Clay ajourned the meeting and everyone filed out of the room. Angel avoided Jax and went to the office where Gemma was going through paperwork.
She closed the door and sat on the sofa, putting her head in her hands. Gemma put the work down and turned her attention to her best friend.
"Talk to me, babe. What's going on through that mind of yours?"
