It's been five months since the big revelation. Maria took the news of a future grandbaby really well. Her condition was slowly getting worse, but Angel could tell she was trying to hold on for her, Happy and the baby girl.
Everyone was excited to have a little princess running around soon. Gemma had already thrown a baby shower, demanding that the whole club show up. She had even invited Maria, just so she could have another happy memory with her family.
The baby was gifted many princess clothes, stuffed animals, and her own baby sized cut. Jax, Ope and Angel bought a two story house next door to Gemma and Clay. Half-Sac was ordered to work on the nursery, though he felt honored to do so.
Once it was finished, the walls were a bright purple. The crib was white. There was a small book shelf with all the Dr Seuss books. A tall shelf with all the stuffed animals arranged from smallest at the top to biggest at the bottom.
Once the nursery was finished, Angel finally got to take a look at it. It was perfect and she thanked the Prospect by baking him some brownies. Speaking of the Prospect, his year was almost up. Angel had no doubt he'd become a full member and have a seat at the Reaper table.
Now, Angel was sitting with her mother at her house. She was still called back to Charming, but only if it was absolutely necessary. Other than that, she didn't go on runs. It was a unanimous vote. A vote she had no problems with, because she didn't want to put her princess in danger.
Angel's belly was already almost the size of a beach ball for carrying only one baby. Her doctor had put her on bed rest, which she follows..most of the time. Happy has caught her up and about and literally picked her up and put her in her bed, threatening to take her hot sauce away. Because her weird craving is pickles and hot sauce.
Of course, she would always call her Aunt and she'd bring her a new bottle, making his threat useless. There was just no winning for the Tacoma Killa. It made him slightly more..murderous. If that were even possible. Happy always wins. At least he use to.
Jax and Ope always checked on their pregnant girlfriend, even riding to Bakersfield every night. It used a lot of gas money, but they didn't care. Angel and the baby were more important than paper and plastic.
Gemma would spend the weekend with Angel and Maria, just to have a Ladies Weekend. She would make sure Maria had everything she needed, that they had food and that Angel had everything for herself and the baby.
Angel had gotten a call a few times for jobs. She had to turn them down, much to their dismay. She didn't tell them of her condition, only that she was on a vacation. Otherwise, her enemies could find her and her family would be in danger, more danger than ever.
Angel felt a flutter in her belly and smiled adoringly, rubbing over the spot the baby kicked. She looked over to tell her Ma, but she had fallen asleep while watching another Clint Eastwood movie. She sighed and covered her up. She couldn't take her to her bed, so she would sleep on the couch with her. Turning off the television and the lights, she curled up next to her mother and fell into a dreamless sleep.
Another week passed and it was a Saturday morning. Angel was cooking breakfast, letting her mother sleep a little longer. Once breakfast was done, she went to Maria's room and knocked on the door.
"Ma? Are you up?" No response. Angel opened the door and saw her mother still lying down. "Ma?" Still no response. She entered the room and brushed Maria's hair out of her face. "Ma, it's time for breakfast. Come on, Ma."
With no success of waking her up, Angel examined her. Her chest wasn't rising, so she felt for a pulse. Nothing.
"Ma?" She began to sob. "Ma, please wake up! Please!" Angel fell onto her knees and held her mother's hand. "Ma, please! Please don't leave me!"
Still holding her mother's hand, she pulled out her phone and dialed her twin.
"Hello?"
"Ha-Hap?"
"Angel? What is it sis? Are you okay?" He asked worriedly, having heard the heartbreak in her voice.
"Come home, hermano. M-Ma is..is gone." She sobbed.
She could hear her brother take a shaky breath. "I'm on my way." And then he hung up. Angel tried to control her breathing and dialed 911.
After her mother was taken in a body bag, her brother made it a couple hours later with the club and Gemma in tow. Gemma stayed with Angel, doing her best to console her best friend.
Happy took care of the arrangements for the funeral and would glance at his sister to make sure she was okay. Their mother was the most important person to them. The one that raised them as best as she could. She was their entire world and now she's gone.
Though they had their Aunt, each other and the club, nobody could feel that void. Seeing how broken his sister was, Happy took it upon himself to not break down. Though he was use to being emotionless, this would be one of three things that would cause him to break. But, he had to stay strong for his sister. Stay strong now, break later. That's the vow he made to himself.
A couple days later and it was the day of the funeral. Members of every charter came to Bakersfield to attend. Almost the entire town was filled with bikers and their Old Ladies and families.
Everyone that attended, gave their condolences. Angel stood strong, having already shed every tear she had.
After the funeral and everything was over, their Aunt took it upon herself to look after the house until they were ready to go through their mother's belongings.
With heavy hearts, the Lowman twins drove back to Charming with the rest of the club and Gemma. Jax had brought his SUV, so Angel could ride with him and Opie.
The entire ride, she laid in the back, resting her head in Opie's lap as he ran his fingers through her curls. The action soothed her and pulled her to sleep. Every now and then, her body would twitch and she'd let out a small whimper, dreaming of the morning she found her mother lifeless.
The sound broke Jax and Ope's hearts. It killed them seeing their girlfriend this way. They knew she would get better in time. And no matter how long it took, they would be sure to he there. To give her the strength she needs to carry on.
Their daughter was on the way, just a couple months left to go. Maria may be gone, but she would not be forgotten. The two best friends were glad they got to know her. She was a kind, caring, and loving soul. Gemma was right though, she might not be here physically, but she will forever be in their hearts.
