Chapter 3

Sorry for the long wait! I’ve been quite busy :/
I hope to get chapters out quicker when it’s my turn again :)
Anyways, enjoy the chapter!!

~-_-~

They’ve been sailing for almost a day and it’s already been very awkward. The journey itself has been fairly good and the weather has been great overall.

Being with Evera on one ship has been hard, to say the least. Evera and Archer haven’t seen each other for a very long time and that caused a lot of uncomfortable moments.

Evera didn’t seem to understand that pirates weren’t just heartless creatures and that was infuriating. She didn’t seem to want to change her mind either, stubbornly holding on to the rumors she heard.

Now Evera had vanished, which was weird. It pained Archer to admit it, but he still cared about her and was getting kind of worried. The fact that the ship was huge didn’t help either.

Where would he go, if he were Evera?

Probably somewhere where the least pirates were, since they were ‘disgusting’. Archer thought to himself bitterly as he walked the corridors of the middle deck, where the crew’s quarters were set up.

They had the men’s and women’s sleeping chambers separated to avoid improper things happening, though Archer was fairly sure there weren’t any disrespectful men or women on board. The separation system didn’t work all that well for some of the gay or lesbian couples they had on the ship, but better safe then sorry.

Archer didn’t think she’d be there, though, and the rules he’d set up for his crew applied to himself as well. He respected the women’s privacy and didn’t think it was decent to just waltz in there.

He’d asked some of the crew if they had seen her, but it seemed that Evera was really good at hiding, or he’d just been asking the wrong people.

His guess was on the latter, since he’d always been better at playing hide and seek.
He’d find Evera almost immediately and then she’d shout an offended ‘hey!’ with that adorable pout of hers.

Hide and seek had been banned from their playtime soon after.

Archer smiled despite himself and decided to go up to the deck again, where he promptly ran into Vallora.

“Oh! Archer, honey, I’ve been looking all over for you. I don’t think your lady-friend is feeling that good. She’s at the bow.” Vallora said, concerned.

“I figured something was wrong, I’ll go check on her, thank you Val!” Archer replied.

Archer climbed the stairs to the front of the ship and Evera’s black hair emerged from behind a barrel. He furrowed his brows and made sure to make his presence known.

Evera shot up from her curled up position on the floor, but as soon as she was standing, she staggered. Archer quickly caught her before she could plummet to the floor. Once she found her balance and leaned on the rail he hastily withdrew his hands.

Evera cleared her throat. “What are you doing here?” She asked coolly.

“I uh, I came to check on you, Val said you seemed like you weren’t feeling well.” Archer rubbed his neck.

“I’m fine! I don’t need your help.” She huffed. “How about you leave?”

Archer didn’t believe her, but he figured he’d only make her mad if he contradicted her. Another wave made the ship rock back and forth and Evera doubled over, holding on to the railing frantically.
