"How much longerrr?" Jack whined, throwing his head back in anguish.

"We've just got here." (y/n) answered her childish brother who was already fidgeting on his plastic chair.

"That doesn't answer my question." He stated.

"Look, we've just got to be normal for one hour forty five then we can leave." She assured him, to which the captain groaned once again.

It was tlike (y/n) wanted to be here either, sat in a stuffy school hall with hundreds of other parents or guardians waiting to hear all about how horrible or pleasant their children are. But unlike Jack, (y/n) had to behave or she would face the consequences tomorrow morning when her tutor decides to verbally attack a student for no valid reason.

"Oh and Jack.." (y/n) began.

"Yea." He replied, spinning his head back around to face her.

"No flirting with any of my teachers." She told him firmly.

"Fun sponge." He huffed, crossing his arms in frustration just as they were told to make their way towards their first chosen department- science.

"Not even Mr Genevieve?" He pleaded as they both got swept away in a surge of keen parents and children.

"Especially not Mr Genevieve."

... Timeskip...

Jack and (y/n) were only on their second appointment of the night, and the pair were positively brain dead, forced to sit in little plastic chairs and be lectured to by her biology teacher. Look, there's nothing wrong with being friendly, but this woman was questioning the harknesses like she was a secret service employee sent by MI5.

"So what was it that you do Mr harkness?" She enquired. Jack had to fight the urge to correct her to 'captain'.

"I'm ex military, but sometimes I still help with the paperwork side of things." He lied. Well it wasn't completely a fib, just some small technicalities the middle aged woman wouldn't decipher.

"And what about your mother (y/n), what does she do?"

Crap.

This was unanticipated. The siblings thought they had prepared for anything that could be thrown there way with their cover story but stupidly they left out a very vital component.

They made eye contact for a split second before (y/n) had to improvise.

"She works overseas for some big corporation- we don't see her much." The younger Harkness replied. Jack looked down at her with an approving nod.

"Ah very well, so your biology exam..."

Timeskip:

As they walked away from the bio corridor, Jack placed an approving hand on (y/n) shoulder.

"You did good in there, I'm sorry I forgot to plan any story's for that-I didn't think they were allowed to ask questions anymore." He apologised. (y/n) looked up at him and smiled.

"They're not, she's just a cow." Jack laughed at hsi sisters insult.

"You know (y/n), I've been thinking..."

"Yes! Yes! Sorry, what have you been thinking pretend father Jack?" she exclaimed. This was the whole reason she was desperate for him to come tonight. She knew biology would be the deal breaker, hence the fact she made sure the appointment was nearer the start of the night.

"I've been thinking that maybe it's time you started being home schooled." He stated, a smirk on his face at his little sisters excitement. She knew just as well as him that 'homeschool' was code for 'full time alien hunter'.

"Result!" She almost shouted, hugging his side in gratitude as they walked.

"You planned this didn't you?" Jack questioned with his arm around her shoulders.

"Maticulously."
