"We're losing them!" (y/n) half shouted from the back seat of the Sudan. Ordinarily she downright refused to sit anywhere other than the passenger seat but when it was Jack and ianto as the only other occupants of the vehicle, she accepted it.
At least in the back she could partially block out their disgusting comments they would make every now and then to each other.
She had already made a mental note never to go anywhere near the tape measure ever again. Just the thought made her body convulse with abhorance.
"I can't go any faster (y/n), we're already breaking the speed limit." Ianto replied. (y/n) didn't know why Jack wasn't driving. Not that ianto was a bad driver it was just that Jack didn't really care about road signs or traffic lights or speed limits or zebra crossings or any other funny little human accessory added to the road simply to slow you down.
"We're only going 65 miles an hour." Jack mumbled, (y/n) smirked in agreement with her brother.
"I think you'll find that's plenty fast enough for these roads." Ianto responded, both hands firmly placed on the steering wheel and eyes on the road.
"C'mon iants just let me drive." The teenager pleaded with the snail driver.
Ianto turned to jack with a look of peril on his face. The captain surprisingly seemed rather intrigued by this idea.
"Good idea, you two swap places." Jack commanded, palceing his hands on the steering temporarily and resting his foot on the accelerator.
Ianto made another petrified expression.
"C'mon we don't have all day!" To this both into and (y/n) took their seat belts off (one more reluctantly that the other) and very awkwardly swapped positions.
"I'll let you know I am not very comfortable with this." The ex-driver sort of mumbled but in a way intended for everyone to hear.
"She'll be fine, you do know that she's older than you." Jack pointed out the technicality to which his coffee boy didn't respond tiehr than with his piercing eyes.
After strapping herself into the drivers seat (y/n) finally took the wheel. At 15 she wasn't too sure on how to work the gears in a car or how to check your blinds pot but she did know how to go fast, and that's all they needed right now.
"Right, let's catch some aliens." She stated before literally flooring it. The dial rose from 65 to 70. From 70 to 80. From 80 to 90. All the way up until the trio were speeded down the Cardiff motor way at over 100 miles per hours. Mindlessly weaving in and out of traffic and probably causing quite the commotion amongst other motorists.
(y/n) was happy, she was filed with adrenaline and finally able to pursue the criminal alien kidnappers in a white van ahead. Jack was content, he was now much more likely to be able to complete his job for today. However, ianto was not so amused. His head was pulsating with terror so hard he couldnt hear himself think. His stomach was churning and his body felt like it was about to be flung out the front window.
"Ianto how close is their drop point." (y/n) enquired, surprising herself at her ability to commit traffic treason and converse.
There was no reply.
Jack turned to look behind his shoulder to see ianto looking an obscure shade of simultaneously existing blue, green and white.
He grabbed the laptop and placed it on his own lap to monitor the vans location before turning back to his coffee boy.
"Ianto we've only got four minutes till the drop site, can you hold it in till then cos I'm pretty sure she has no idea how to pull over." Jack spoke in a comforting manner, placing his hand gently on iantos knee. He looked up and nodded slowly.
The peaceful moment was broken when the screeching horns of two Peugeot 308s rang out across the Sudan. At first, ianto thought that he was dead, only to be proven wrong when he heard the younger harkness bellowing in road rage and the older chuckling at ehr temper.
"I don't know who you're beeping at. My car is twice the size of yours. I could take you all in one go so you should be grateful that I swerved one centimetre before your hubcap." She shouted through the window.
"That felt surprisingly good, we should do this more often." (y/n) smiled at her brother.
"I think someone might be indifferent." He smiled, nodding over to ianto.
"OK, pull in here, park in the gas station, the drop point is only a couple hundred feet away and its only accessible on foot." Jack directed, pointing to a slip road that lead onto the station.
(y/n) followed the directions but not before narrowly avoiding colliding with at least ten other vehicles.
As soon as they parked ianto reached for the door, sprinted towards a patch of grass and vomited profusely.
"Ianto!" Jack called, running over and placing his hand between the Welshmans shoulder blades.
After finally figuring out how to undo her seat belt, (y/n) exited the back Sudan only to feel her legs give way beneath her. Her body had fueled up so much energy from the pursuit that it physically couldn't escape her body.
Once ianto had finished spilling his guts all over the greenery, him and the captain returned to the Sudan only to find the remaining member of their crew temporarily incapacitated.
"You guys go get some aliens, I'll just live here for a while." She told them through heavy breaths.
Jack soon noticed her over dilated pupils and slightly shaking hands and knew this was the effect of an adrenaline rush, and she would be fine in about half an hour.
"Ianto, car." He instructed, pointing to the left hand back seat.
Ianto happily obeyed and breathed a sigh of relief as he sat down.
"Now you know what we're going to do?" Jack questioned his sibling, who he was now holding up but the shoulders.
"Save some aliens." She smiled.
"You're damn right we're gonna save some aliens."
