He sat there by her bedside
He strives to remember a long forgotten moment
Memories had slipped away
Stress had begun to overwhelm him
He fell asleep by her bedside
He stood there by her bedside
She got up and held his hand
She led him to were his memories were lost
He had small glimpses of his past
When they splashed in the creek,
Walked the dog around the lonesome park,
Cooked dinner for a party.
They then traveled back triumphantly to her bedside.
He awoke by her bedside
Excitement had overwhelmed him
“She had walked, she had talked!”
He glanced over to her lying in bed.
He rested his hand on hers while lying on her bedside
A pale faced beauty
Soft hands worn with age
Each gray hair shimmering with knowledge
She was his his love, his life, and his beloved wife
He knew the fate that would befall her
But until the end he sat by her side
He sat there by her hospital bed.
