Let me just make something clear: Ryan Lithe is your typical hot, popular, bad boy, player dude. I know, fabulous description. But we all know who I'm talking about. He's the Adam Dynnes of our school, the Danny Zucco.

I wasn't confused as to why Ryan was in detention that first day, but what he did this time to deserve it. I was being extremely dramatic when Ryan came to pick me up from my house, and I knew it.

I thought Ryan was being a gentleman but later found out it was a dare from his friends. He was only comforting and nice because his friends dared him to.

Apparently, the deal was, Ryan would have to make me upset, then comfort me and make me feel better. How did I know this?

Well, Ryan drove in a circle and came right back to my house, he told me about the dare, and then he kicked me out of the car. Nice right?

While I was completely pissed off at Ryan, I had no time to enjoy the big speech my father gave me when I walked back into the house. He continued by asking me what I was so distracted by and when I told him about Ryan, he decided to postpone his lecture.

The thing was, that only made me more angry, I didn't care about what Ryan did, only about how I'd been vulnerable in front of him. Plus my dad thinking I was upset and delaying his bad-girl rant, just added to my frustration.

So in the end, I was a big ball of fuming problems.

*Brrrring*

I headed down to the detention room as the last bell of the day rang, not counting the one for detention.

When I arrived, there was only one other boy in there and the teacher was actually awake.

I took a seat at the same table I had sat in before and took out my pre-calc homework. I figured I'd better do it now so I could leave more time for my father to yell at me. I know, I'm too smart.

About five minutes later, I was stuck on problem 26 out of 50 (yes I know I'm fast) when I heard the door creak open.

I had no intention on looking up at the new arrival, but the teacher announced them anyway.

"You're late, Mr. Lithe." The teacher said with annoyance.

"Yeah yeah, I know." Ryan replied casually. I tensed up at the sound of Ryan's voice and my pencil froze over the number I was writing.

The chair across from me scraped loudly against the floor as a certain hot, popular, bad boy, player dude sat down across from me.

I pretended to not be affected by his presence at all, but it really was killing me. It was just so awkward after what he did on Saturday.

I continued problem 26 but quickly gave up, the stupid thing was too dang hard.

"No solutions." I heard a masculine voice say and I looked up at Ryan with a puzzled expression.

"What?" I asked. He sighed.

"I said, the answer is no solutions."

I glanced back down at the problem I was stuck on and everything clicked into place. The answer was no solutions.

"Oh, thanks." I say without looking up. Not only am I amazed that he read the problem upside down and still managed to figure it out, but I'm amazed there is actually a brain inside his pretty little head.

I finished the rest of the problems with ease in about ten minutes. Thus leaving me with no more homework, I pulled out the book I was currently reading. Crime and Punishment was actually a really good book, once you got past the difficult words and the Russian perspective.

I heard snickering coming from Ryan's direction so I put my book down and gave him a pointed glare.

"Do you want a Nobel Peace Prize for figuring that problem out or..." I trailed off for effect and crossed my arms expectantly.

"You're reading?" He asked in astonishment, totally ignoring my insult.

"Yes, because unlike you, I find it pleasurable and I have a brain to do it with." I say, before picking my book back up and continuing to read.

"I do have a brain, I helped you with that math problem." He stated proudly. Once again, I lowered the book and glared at him.

"Aren't you considerate, helping someone. Let me get right on that, getting your award." I said sarcastically.

"You do that woman." He said as he kicked his feet up on the table and put his hands behind his head, sighing.

"Do not talk to me like that, you lazy whale!" I said, and I reached forward and swept his feet off the table, causing them to bang loudly on the floor.

"Or what?" He asked, trying to keep some of his cool.

"I guess you'll just have to find out, now won't you."

I stood up and stormed over to the door. As I was reaching for the door handle I heard him call out from behind me.

"Detention's not over darling." He sounded pleased with himself.

"Yes it is." I said, and as I twisted the doorknob and took my first step out of the room, the bell rang.

I felt so proud that I pulled something like that off, I almost wanted to turn around just to see his face as I stepped out the exact same time as the bell rang.

"Bye Ryan!" I called out, not bothering to turn around.

I hopped into the car and started driving home. Today, my father was going to yell at me. I had served Ryan, and I totally aced my Spanish quiz. As I sped down the road towards my house, I was feeling pretty good.
