I flipped shut the book I had been reading when the shrill bell sounded. Sighing, I got up from the table I was at and I headed to chemistry.
I took my seat and glanced around at the other kids in my class, but I barely knew any of them. This was the one class I didn't share with Ava because she always chose basic science, while I went for Honors.
"Hey Darling," a very familiar someone said as the chair next to me scraped loudly on the floor.
"Hi Ryan," I replied sighing. I twirled my pencil in my hand while I waited for the teacher to begin the lesson. I pulled out my notebook and wrote the headline at the top, seeing that I was probably the only one doing so.
"Class, I will be a few minutes, I have to answer this call," the teacher said, looking at the ID on her phone.
Sighing again, I leaned back in my chair, only to press my back onto someone's fingers. I quickly shot up and turned around to look at my chair. Ryan had his arm draped over the top with his hand hooked around the other side, his fingers in the way of someone's back. My back.
"Could you please move your hand?" I asked not looking at him.
"You know Darling, most girls would kill to be in your position," he said smirking, but he moved his arm anyway.
"Thank you," I mumbled, and I turned back to the front as the teacher began her lesson.
***************************
Ryan and I were still laughing when we finally burst out of chemistry class. Our shoulders were touching as we walked down the hall shaking with laughter.
"What's got you two dying over here?" Ava asked smiling as she joined us, holding hands with Mark.
"This- this idiot," I managed between laughs.
"She was asking for it!" Ryan exclaimed. When we calmed down enough, we turned to Ava and Mark to tell the story.
"So we were supposed to be testing harmless chemicals on frogs today right?" Ryan started.
"Ms. Carter pulls out a tub of frogs, and starts handing them out," I put in.
"When she gets to our table, I refused the frog-"
"So then she started telling him how we wouldn't hurt the animals and everything,"
"She didn't even notice one of the frogs on the lid of the tub-"
"And it jumped right into her shirt!" I exclaimed, starting to laugh again.
"That's not even the best part! She started doing a sped up version of the Wobble!" And, unable to hold back our laughter, the four of us walked to math cracking up like a bunch of high people.
"Okay class, I have to go home for an emergency, so just have a free day. A substitute will be in shortly, so be nice to her. You may go to the library or the computer lab but nowhere else. Stay in here if you wish," Mr. Laurens said, grabbing his bag and marching out the door.
"Well, I'm off to the library," I announced to the other three, grabbing my stuff and turning to head out.
"Mark and I have to finish a project," I hear Ava say, " We're going to the computer lab.
"Guess I'll come with you, Darling," Ryan says, standing next to me.
I started walking out of the room with Ryan when I heard the whispers and giggles. I turned around to see most of the girls giving me a death glare, and most guys waggling their eyebrows at me and giving me knowing smirks.
"I guess my life is more interesting than all of yours!" I say, turning and walking out of the room.
Ryan and I walk in silence to the library and it's only when we come to the doors that he breaks the silence.
"Biblioteca," he says casually.
"Spanish for library, right?"
"Yep,"
And we walk in.
