Desperate times call for desperate measures. We all know this. Whether it was that one test we cheated on because we forgot to study, or the document you plagiarized because you were running out of ideas for the big project due in two days, or even the little lie you told your first crush to keep her interested in you. We've all done something stupid in desparation. But this time was different, because lives were on the line.
We had proof that something dark was at work - the dead body of our head scientist crammed into a crate. What we didn't have were any clues as to who or what could have done it. We were at each other's throats. All of the scientists believed that it was the engineers who did it because of a long rivalry between the head scientist and the head engineer. All of the engineers denied this and instead blamed the scientists for killing one of their own. It was total chaos and nobody could decide who was innocent and who was guilty. Then, from out of nowhere, the lights went out.
Everyone started to panic, and that was when we heard a scream. A scream from my best friend Sarah, who was now dead. It was so sudden... I can still remember the pain I felt right then. The person who had kept me company all those years in space, the person who was kind to me when I had lost everything, the person who I loved, was gone forever.
