"Kai,you seem to happy today. Did anything happen ?" Flo asked as they sat down at a booth in the coffee shop. Kai sipped at her ice coffee dancing her happy dance,"Flo today just feels like its going to be a great day"she said and looked over at Flame who was drinking a chocolate milkshake with headphones in,watching scooby doo on Kai's phone.

"And why do you say that?"Flora asked smiling at her friend who didn't care about the amused looks people were giving her."For starters,Oogy came by as expected, I've got me a iced coffee and five minutes ago you agreed with me on something that we've been at war for-for over 3 years,and that says alot since we never just reach an agreement on matters like that."Kai said as if stating facts,with her brow up at Flora giving her that 'you know im right' look.

Flora laughed,"Kai the disagreement was about oreaos,and who's Oogy"she asks half laughing and mostly confused.

"Oh yeah....I guess Oog's a figment of my imagination. Ever since school break started ive been seeing this shadow in the forest. At first it scared me but then i realized he or she....but since its my imagination i can say its a he.Yeah anyways, his brought me comfort, and i know this sounds crazy like who in their right state of mind would find a large shadow something in the forest comforting? I don't know either but its just a feeling that i have, like I don't have to be scared of anything when his there."Kai explained to her, merely shrugging off the absurdity of what she just said.

Floras smile vanished hearing this, and Kai looked at her with a worried face. "I'm not crazy,I swear"she hurriedly said waving her hands Infront of her.

Flora sat up straighter, schooling her expression and clearing her throat to speak. "by any chance did this figure look like a person or an animal?"she asked in a serious tone, "Well... its to big to be a person so yes, its an animal," Kai replied sounding unsure and just shrugged her shoulders letting out a sigh.

Flora muttered a curse at what she had just said, her eyebrows crinkling with concern,"you alright?Its nothing serious, probably just the after math of falling on my head when i was a baby"Kai joked and laughed at herself.Flora briefly smiled but started looking in her pockets for something.

She pulled out her phone and got up,"I'll be right back"she said while getting up and walking towards the bathroom at the back of the cafe.

Alone with Flame, who was so fixed on the screen that he barely noticed she was there,Kai scanned the semi-empty coffee shop instead, taking in it's vintage aesthetic and playing a game of smash or pass in her head.

She'd comment in her head scanning the people around the coffee shop.

Finally her eyes landed on one particular man who stood in the line at the front of the coffee shop.He was looking right back at her. His eyes were as cold as ice in it's all light blue and frosty glory.His jet black hair was in sleek wavy curls that fell slightly above his long eyelashes. In her mind she thought he looked like a greek god, that was just dressed in all black. He had an amazing jawline and a visibly muscular body, along with blank ink peeking ever so slightly above the collar if his shirt.

In that moment of them staring at each other, Kai did the first thing her mind could come up with.she smiled and waved and instantly mentally face palmed herself for doing something so dumb.His gaze and presence brought back that sensation of electricity and heat, she could also smell the rain and wet forest. The mysterious man looked at her confused but the side of his lips twitched a little.

Their moment was interrupted when Kai saw a figure standing in her peripheral vision. She slowly turned and looked to the side at the person. A older man who was slightly hunched forward,his eyes were almost black as he stood beside the table looking at her.

"Hello,can i help you with anything?"Kai politely asked the man who chuckled, revealing rows of uncared for teeth, some even missing.He subtly bowed as best he could, this action then drawing curious gazes from the people in the coffee shop.

"dont,its not yet time. You're not even supposed to be here"Flora quickly stepped back into the coffee shop, stopping the man with ice blue eyes from interacting. Her tone was stern and held a hint of annoyance towards him but she didn't stay any second longer, as she rushed to Kai's side.

"we've got to go"Flora said and Kai, who nodded in agreement feeling uneasy from this mans presence,she got up and gently pulled Flame behind her, making sure he was very close by.

The older man then grabbed Kai's wrist as she made her way past him out the booth.His grip was tight and he began to slowly dig his nails into her skin.

"His coming for you."he said with a menacing smile. She quickly pulled her wrist out his grip and held it, looking at the man angrily from hurting, frightened but also confused at what he said.

Who's coming?

And why me?

Kai heard growling behind her,she looked fearfully back at her friend who quickly moved Infront of her  acting as a shield,"Take flame to the car I'll meet you guys there"Flora said her eyes never leaving the mans. Kai stood still behind flora"are you mental,lets just go he didn't kill me, you're causing a scene for no reason"Kai whisper shouted at Flora who gave her side look clearly displaying that she was mad,"fine"Kai murmed angrily and chose not to add fuel to the fire.She gently pushed Flame  Infront of her as the exited the coffee shop into the snow filled streets.

What the hell just happend?

She asked herself in her head as she stood outside the coffee shop with Flame close at her side waiting for Flora to come back.

The door opened and the greek god she waved at stepped in view and looked at her concerned and uncertain,"are you okay"he asked her and stepped a little closer leaving a respectable amount of space between them.

Warmth filled her body and the smell of the forest intensified with something else which she couldn't quite figure out.She took a deep breath in welcoming it.

Kai opened her eyes to see that the man was still there,"Yeah,im alive so that should count for something, although i do think-ahhh nevermind it already left a bruise"she said,her voice betraying all hopes of control and confidence infront of him as she looked down at her wrist that now had a purple blue hand mark.

The man followed her gaze watching her hold her wrist. On the outside he seemed to have no emotion, but internally he was raging at the sight"you'll live its life and shit happens"he said coldly to Kai, he knew he couldn't act on his emotions.

Not yet.

"don't use that language around him,his just a child,and why bother asking me if im okay,if you're only going to retort something so cold afterwards"she scolded him and he laughed looking around,"yeah sure whatever. see you around Selcouth"he said before walking away.

Kai watched as his figure dissappeard into the body of moving people,feeling a little sad that his warmth left her,but she also felt angry at him for being bipolar,and most importantly she wanted to know what Selcouth meant.
 
Damn arrogant bipolar asshole.
