MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Sorry this is late. I hope you all enjoy 😘😘😘
Winter 1933
It's strange going from snow to sandy beaches. Lem set down his travel bags in the room he and Jack wound up sharing. Their two beds were separated by a night stand with a green lamp at the centre of it all. Jack has gone to get them a snack. So Lem decided to lie down on his bed and close his eyes.
He felt something tickle his nose. And when he moved his arm he felt a warm body. Opening his eyes, Lem took in the scene before him. Tucked into him was none other than Jack. Lem slowly lifted his arm and wrapped it around Jack's waist.
Jack opened his eyes.
Lem froze.
What if he moves away? What if we are no longer friends? What if we become strangers again?
Jack nuzzled info Lem. Lem continued to remain still in fear of ruining the seconds that passed by."Shouldn't we get up or something?"
"I'd rather just stay here." Jack whispered back.
"If that's what you want." Lem answered gently pulling Jack into him.
"JACK AND LEM DINNER IS READY!!" a voice squealed.
Jack sat in an upright position, when Lem's arm didn't move from around him; he pulled his friend up by the arm but didn't let go.
"We should go have dinner."
Jack looked at his hand that hadn't detached itself from Lem.
"Alright..." he said finally letting go, and turning his back on Lem.
Once they'd reached the dining table, a force collided against Lem's legs.
"Well hello there, Kathleen." Lem smiled down at the girl in pigtails.
"Hello Lem." Kathleen ran to hug her brother's legs.
"Thank you for telling us to come to the dinner table, Kick." Jack tugged on her pigtails.
"Hey! You're just being a dip!"
"Kathleen Agnes Kennedy! Do not use such language!" Mrs. Kennedy scolded.
Kathleen Kennedy was given her nickname of "Kick" after the family learned of her incredibly fiesty nature. Mrs. Kennedy really tried to get her to behave differently, but Kick preferred to kick a soccer ball or argue with any figure of authority.
Lem sat down between Joseph, Jack's eldest brother and Jack himself.
"Why can't I sit with Lem!" Kick whined.
"Because he's your brother's friend." Mr. Kennedy replied.
"But he's also my friend."
"You only met him four hours ago." Rosemary shot back.
"Nobody was talking to you." Kick stuck out her tongue.
As Rosemary opened her mouth Mrs. Kennedy interjected. "Rosemary you are her older sister do not act immaturely. And Kathleen don't be rude to your older sister."
Rosemary grumbled but decided not to argue.
"I'd just like to say thank you for inviting me Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy."
"Of course Lem, and please call me Joseph."
"You can call me Rose, honey." Mrs. Kennedy held her youngest son on her lap.
As the family ate the pasta bolognese conversation erupted around the table.
"Tomorrow, your grandparents will be joining us. So I want you all to be on your best behaviour."
