Hiiiii so it's been a while since I posted. I had a lot of evaluations hopefully I can post more as December break happens speaking of its finally December!!! I'm half-way through Christmas shopping. What holidays do ya'll celebrate

December 1933

"John what's the plan?" Lem whispered as he held two buckets of paint.

"Philip will stand out behind the bin in the hall. He'll have a signal to warn us if we need to abort the mission. The rest of us go in every other classroom and paint the windows black."  John whispered back.

John was their natural leader. Lem was definitely the second hand man who supported John in everything. The others followed along.

"My signal will be 'whoohoorooo'"

"What the heck kind of signal is that Philip."

"Shut up, Alex.Just work with it."

"Fine, but I didn't think you could come up with something so stupid." Alex rolled his eyes.

"Is everyone ready."  John cut in to stop Philip from responding.

A chorus of whispered yes followed.

"Alright let's get to it."

John flopped down on Lem's bed. George had gone to wash his face of paint he'd accidentally left. Lem sat beside his friend.

"So do you think it'll work."

"We covered the windows in seventeen classrooms with black paint. I think they'll definitely cancel school to clean up the mess."

"That was a brilliant idea." Lem laughed

"I'm surprised George came up with it. He can somehow be a very creative person. Especially when given the right fuel."

"By fuel you meant food right?"

John laughed at the comment. Lem closed his eyes listening to his friend's laugh. It was strong, and filled with joy. Anyone could tell he truly had fun in life, and he hadn't let the world burden him.

"Lem... would you like to celebrate the holidays with my family?" John said.

There was a moment of silence.

"Is it because I told you that the family isn't doing well financially?"

"No... well sort of. I just want to know if you want to get away, instead of working your ass off. We all know on the weekends you go into town to work, and after school too. Wouldn't it be nice to just take a break?" John whispered

"Do you pity me John?"

"No. No I would never. I just... I feel..." John wrung his hands together.

"I should be mad that you pity me."
John neck snapped in the direction of Lem.
"I should tell you never to pity me, and yet...you are the only person I'd allow to pity me. There's something about you, that just makes me want to trust you wholly." Lem turned to face his friend.

Their faces were inches apart. The air buzzed with energy, and yet the two were completely still.

John cleared his throat and turned away first.
