Spring 1934
Mission Manure was a go. During weekends they would ask for permission to bike around, and they'd find their way to farms, where they'd ask to take manure in a couple weeks time. There plan was to have it shipped and dropped off to the barn owned by the school. They would then move those boxes to a small cave they'd found by the stream. Then the day before they'd move the boxes near the barn, and finally dump it all in the school gym at night.
"Lem how was English?"
"The same as always, completely frustrating, and lacking in creativity." Lem smiled grimly. Jack responded with laughter.
"There's something I'd actually like to talk to you about later." Jack's face suddenly got serious.
"Sure, thing. Where are you headed to now?"
"English."
"Let me know if it was just as bad as my English class."
"Would I even be your friend if I didn't." Jack threw over his shoulder, before disappearing in the crowd of carbon copied uniforms.
Lem knew he had Science so he went to his dorm room, where he found George.
"Great I was wondering if you were gonna show." George joked.
"I always do every other Tuesday."
"You should ditch more classes with me."
"Can't. I have to maintain the scholarship I have."
"Jesus, you work harder than all of us, and the amount of work I do is exhausting. Come here sunny boy your old man wants to help you." George patted to a spot beside him on the bed.
"I think even the elderly would think you're old for calling me 'sunny boy'" Lem chuckled.
"And why would you call them Elderly when you can call them Old" George sighed.
"You're honestly a terrible human."
"Someone's gotta do the job." George sighed in mock exhaustion.
"Are we waiting for anyone else?"
"Yup, Philip will be joining us today."
"No way? Seriously?" Lem sat up quickly.
"Yup"
Before Lem could say anything else Philip stormed into the room and flopped down on Lem's bed.
"I have had an absolute terrible day"
"Really baby cakes? How so?" George asked while batting his eyelashes.
"Shut up you dip! I really was having a bad day. I completely failed my physics exam, my mother called to tell me he wants me to meet a girl back home, and my leaf sculpture flew out the window."
"You're mom is trying to arrange a date for you?" Lem asked.
"Yes she is. She somehow got the impression that I like women."
"HOLD ON A SECOND! YOU DON'T LIKE WOMEN?!" George sat up quickly.
"Say it a little louder for the people in the back, George."
"Sorry...it's just...when?"
"I thought you guys would have noticed, but I'm not surprised since you're all a bunch of idiots."
