you're a little too tall
with a glint of something small
that rests in the soul of your eyes
i like to believe that's where your secrets lie
your hair's a little too long
just like that deluded song
of which you play
letting the chords set you free
i've missed you for months on end
i think i had forgotten how to mend
the strings in your heart
that i tore to piecesi never told you this
but i must admit
you remind me of a city that lingers within the streets
a nashville soul
born in the body of a man down under
you never lived the country life
but you're too city for here and to quiet for america
though i suppose
you do clench your toes
when you hear the rows
of endless wows
of those who cheer for you
in the stands of the arena
in nashville
