losing you was like losing sleep
it was like lying in bed at night without a pillow
like waking up in the morning still feeling tired
losing you was like losing my favourite sweater
it was like opening my wardrobe to find it empty
like searching for the second sock that had gone missing months ago
losing you was like running out of my favourite cereal
it was like pouring milk into the bowl and missing it
like cleaning up the mess that it left on the floor
losing you was like losing my car keys
it was like the frenzy of figuring out how i'll make it to work
like the feeling you get when you realise you can't help it if you miss the bus
losing you was inevitable
it was like the simplicity of breaking down over something you can't control
and the complexity of forgetting how to breathe
losing you was like losing me
