Once upon a time, there was a family of three, a mother, a father, and a little blond boy, his name was Jak.

They were quite wealthy, especially for the town they were in, but they were very kind.

Jak was mute at first, but that didn't stop him from being close with his father, he had shown him to be patient, no matter who it is or what they did.

Unfortunately, his father had passed away during a business trip, leaving both the boy and the mother in despair.

When Jak turned 8, his mother had remarried to a powerful man, he had a daughter too, but said daughter didn't seem in the mood to hang out with Jak.

Sadly, Jak's mother had fallen very ill, the doctors couldn't do anything about it, so she got her son a friend, an ottsel named Daxter, so that he'd never have to be lonely. But after the mother's passing, Jak's step father had begun treating him like a servant, cooking and cleaning for the two.

But even so, he kept his patience, but he wasn't sure if it was cause he took it from his father or cause he feared what would've happened if he lashed out.

Luckly, Jak had started to speak once he turned 17, no one knew the exact cause of this sudden change, nor where it came from, but it took a while for Jak to get the hang of it.

Jak was woken up by his step father, ordering him to make breakfast for him and his step sister, the blond of course complied, he had gotten used to this form of mistreatment, but Daxter was always there to support him.

-"You know, Jak? I'm saying like- what if one day you're able to get the heritage?" the ottsel suggested watching Jak cook, he had been talking about ways for Jak to get his parent's heritage back from his step family, but he just got a confused look from the blond.

-"That's a pretty hard thing to do, Dax...I dont wanna risk it" Jak responded as he finished up, going to the dining room to serve the food to his step family, then coming back to put away some of the stuff and sweep the floor.

-"But shouldn't you take a few risks? You never know until you try right?" Daxter said as he got up on a chair, his best friend not taking his focus off of the floor.

-"I don't think I have time for that...unless miraculously I have enough time in my day to actually try something or I dont know..." Jak replied as he finished up sweeping the floor, making something quick to eat in the meantime.

-"Jak! We're done, I need you to do the dishes, and after that, go to the market and get the usual stuff" Jak's step father ordered, they called him Baron Praxis, but Jak would much rather call him by just "Praxis" than ever refer to him as his father.

Jak did as he was told, Daxter groaning as his attempts of convincing his friend to try and get himself out of there were without result.

After Jak was done with the dishes, he went out, Daxter sitting on his shoulder.

-"Come on, Jak, if you could just listen-" Daxter tried again, only to be interrupted.

-"Not now, Dax..." Jak simply said, walking to the town, it wasn't too far from where they lived, so he didn't need to use a horse.

Once the two got there, they got the stuff they needed, some fruit, vegetables, some bread, and of course a bit of meat, it seemed like enough for them.

Unfortunately, Jak wasn't able to see where he was stepping, causing him to trip on his feet, dropping both the stuff and the ottsel.

But luckly, a lady ran over to help, she was a lilac colored lombax with blue eyes and wearing a pretty dress.

-"Sir! Are you alright? Do you need any help?" she asked not letting the other respond, as she had already started to pick up the dropped stuff for Jak and Daxter.

-"I'm..fine i-i guess" Jak said getting some remaining things, noticing his buddy all dirty, once the girl handed over the stuff to Jak, she went to pick up the ottsel and dust him off, only to set him back on Jak's shoulder.

-"Well this day has gotten a lot more interesting, uh- do you need me to help you get that stuff back to your place?" the lombax asked again, already noticing the tall male getting the hang of the stuff.

-"Don't worry about it, I got this...But thanks" Jak said before stopping and turning to see her again. "May I get your name by any chance?" he let out a small little smile.

-"Hm...that's funny, you don't know who I am...but oh well, nevermind that, name's Rivet!" she introduced herself, not saying much more. "If you need anything just come looking for me!"

-"Will do!" Daxter exclaimed as Jak started to walk back home, making sure everything was nice and tidy in the basket he held.
