Daxter suddenly saw a letter slide under the door, and of course, being the curious little ottsel he was, he grabbed it and looked at it.

Wait a minute, could it be?, a letter from the Duke?!.

Daxter opened the letter, reading every little word in it in under seconds.

Dear Praxis family
There will be a royal ball in the next week at the castle to search for a bridesgroom for the king to be Ratchet.
Please assist in your best attire.
-Duke Quark

The ottsel suddenly got excited, calling in his friend, Jak, telling him about the ball.

Jak grabbed the letter and decided to tell his step father and sister about it, if he didn't, it wouldn't have been pretty.

-“Praxis? There's gonna be a royal ball next week at the castle...they're looking for a partner for the soon to be king” Jak spoke handing the letter to his step father, he read it a little before nodding.

-“Good, I want you to help Ashelin get a nice gown, if we want her to marry the prince then she has to look her best, isn't that right Ash?” Praxis said glancing at his daughter, who was fixing up her hair.

-“Yes father” Ashelin briefly spoke.

Jak nodded, getting some stuff to get a dress for Ashelin, the ones she had already just didn't seem good enough for Praxis. Writing down Ashelin's exact measurements before looking back at Daxter.

-“Dax? You coming?” Jak asked before the ottsel looked around and shake his head.

-“I think I'll pass! I'm not uh- feeling well” Daxter lied...and it was very obvious to Jak, but he brushed it off, leaving Dax in the house, but it was just what Daxter needed, he had a plan.

Daxter gathered some of the mice hiding in the walls, being a talking ottsel gave him the benefit to speak to other animals...somehow, but he explained his plan to them, getting some fabric, ribbon, threads and needles, and they were set to put the plan in action.

Jak spent quite a few days talking to the local tailor about the gown, as well as talking about the whole ball in general.

-“Say, Jak..will you be going to the ball?” the lady asked as she did her sewing and cutting.

-“Probably not...I dont have anything to wear, plus I doubt Praxis would want me, a simple servant, going with them Jak responded, the girl pausing her work and looking at him up and down, as if she was scanning for anything wrong with him.

-“Sure, he may see you as a servant, but you're so much more than that!, you're an amazing man, so calm and patient, and pretty nice to be around” the tailor pointed out going back to her work.

-“Thanks, Keira...but it's just that I'm practically stuck with him” Jak spoke looking down, remembering how his father treated him so nicely before his passing, how he'd run along the garden with him as a child, even learning sign language with him. Jak missed his father, he really did, but there wasn't much he could do about it anymore.

-“You're right, but I do pray you get out of there soon, you deserve much more than a bossy step father and a cold step sister” Keira said finishing up the dress, adding just a few touches until she was satisfied. “That should do it! I hope she likes it

-“Thanks again, Keira” Jak was about to pay her, but she stopped him.

-“Jak, I'll let you off taking this for free, pocket that won't ya? You deserve it” the lady muttered with a smile, Jak found himself dumbfounded at this action.

-“Keira, I appreciate that but..it should only be fair, this IS your job-” Jak said before being interrupted.

-“No, Jak... I insist” Keira did in fact insist, the two stared at eachother for a few moments as if there was a staring contest, until Jak gave up and sighed.

-“Alright alright, you win this time!” Jak chuckled and pat her shoulder with a smile, Keira putting the gown into a neat bag before handing it to Jak.

-“Oh, and before you go” Keira said looking into a drawer, pulling out a neat tie and giving it to Jak. “In case you find something to wear and are able to go!” Keira added with a smile, Jak smiled and nodded.

-“Thanks, Keira...really
