Moriko's POV

I lay on the cold damp ground trying to fall asleep and forget any of this happened, but my mind won't stop thinking about what I said to Inosuke. It was wrong, so wrong of me to say all of those things. to tell the truth I don't hate him for some reason.

even though he captured me, even though he pushes me around and even though he calls me his slave. I still can't seem to hate the boy. even though I barely know him, I'm angry at him for taking me, but I'm also angry at myself.

my eyes travel to his. he seems to be falling asleep. although a small sliver of his pupil is still visible. the green of his eyes shimmers brightly in the moonlight. the hue almost perfectly matches the colour of my hair. I look up to the moon through the cave. It shines just as bright.

I stand up and walk out of the cave as I follow the trail of light the moon gives off, I find myself at the edge of a cliff. I look back at the moon, it's just at eye level where tall mighty trees tower below it. I sit down with my legs dangling below. my eyes become heavy as I prop myself up with my arms and lean back slightly. Still staring at the moon, I can feel someone behind me. I turn my head to see Inosuke standing with his hands on his hips.

"you're not trying to escape are you?" he says more worried than angry. it must be because he's tired.

"no, I just couldn't sleep" I half lied as I rub my eye holding in a yawn.

"oh..." he says trying to hide his surprise. He sits down next to me hugging his legs upward into his chest

"yeah..." I say awkwardly still remembering earlier. I felt so bad I just didn't know what to say. Inosuke starts to twiddle his thumbs and looks like he's in deep thought. I open my mouth to talk before getting cut off by Inosuke,

" do you hate me?" he asks timidly. I look at him in surprise, I know I haven't known him for more than a day but I didn't think someone so loud could be so quiet.

"wha- I don't hate you Inosuke!" I said a bit too loud causing me to slap a hand across my mouth.

"you don't?" he says with a genuine smile.

"of course not." I smile back.

"I'm sorry for yelling, I've just been very confused, I don't understand anything right now. I mean yesterday I found out my parents had been murdered and the people who had been taking care of me were frauds that put this thing in my neck" I explain pulling up my hair to show the bump in my neck.

"but that doesn't excuse the things I said to you, to be honest, I'm glad you captured me. not only do I have a place to stay...but now I have my first friend." I said looking him in the eyes with a huge smile on both of our faces.

"I'm your friend?!" he asks excitedly.

"yup!" I say with a closed-eye smile.

"I've never had one of those..." he says with a slightly sad smile.

"well, there's a first time for everything!" I said giving him a light pat on the head. his smile widens.

Inosuke POV

she places her hand onto my head ruffling my hair slightly my smile grows as I look at her, but wait.

"what if I mess it up and you won't wanna be my friend anymore!" I ask, my expression turning from happy to nervous.

"Inosuke, we're gonna get in fights but, that doesn't mean we won't be friends anymore!" she says with a light smile.

I feel all giddy inside as I let out a small amazement noise. she laughs slightly, I focus on her again and shake my head slightly.

"Yeah, cool, whatever," I say quickly turning my head away. she continues to laugh a small snort leaving her mouth only making her laugh more.

"stop it's not funny!" I say with a small laugh coming from my mouth as well. not long after we both lay back laughing non-stop.

we both stand up, then Moriko- yeah that's her name, beckons me as we walk back to the cave.

Moriko POV

I sit back down in the cave as Inosuke grabs a stick to re-light the fire. And I think,

' I've never seen that side of him, granted I've never seen much of his personality before'

I grab the moss blanket and place it back over the top of me and lay my head down onto the cold rock, yet this time it's a refreshing kind of cold. I look at Inosuke lighting the fire again before finally closing my eyes. the last thing I thought before passing out was

'thank you for finding me Inosuke'.
