The silence was nearly deafening. As promised, Luna had attended the dinner that her mom planned with her father. And seeing as it was being held at her house, there was no way she'd be able to find a way out of it anyway. Luna was sat beside Peter and right across from her mother and her biological father. Her mother had been glaring holes at her only daughter because Luna had beaten her to the space beside Peter.

And the only sounds being released from the dining room were the scrapes of the forks against the porcelain plates. Or the occasional slurp of lemonade from Luna, who was purposely making noise because she knew how much her mom hated the sounds of slurping.

Luis had finally enough of the awkwardness once he set his fork down and glanced at his eldest daughter. "So...Luna."

"Luis," she mocked.

"I don't expect you to call me dad or papi," he sighed. "But, I came here to talk to you, and you haven't said a word all night."

The teen girl dropped her fork against the plate and tilted her head as she looked at him. "Because, when I told you to stay out of my life I meant it. You see me...what? Once a year. Then you harass me minutes before the state championship game and just drop the news about the fact that not only do I have siblings. But, you're clearly a better father to then than you were to me."

"They're children. 3 and 5 years old!" Luis groaned. "You're mad because I've decided to turn a new leaf and be a good father. You should be happy. I'm trying with them and I want to try with you."

"I should be happy?" she scoffed. "Did you forget that I was once a child, too? You can't just pick and choose when you want to be a dad!"

"It's different!" he exclaimed, tiredly raising his arms in the air.

"How is it different?" she argued.

"Okay," Maria stepped in, narrowing her eyes at her daughter. "Let's calm down, now." The woman had taken a glance at the two and she'd hate to admit it but their tempers were so similar she was worried what would come next.

Before his brain could even process the words, Luis had spoken, once again breaking his eldest daughter's heart. "Because I didn't even want you!"

"You need to leave," Peter demanded, finally speaking up.

"Look, I—"

"Now!" he continued. "You're in my house and I'm telling you to leave. So, go, before I physically make you leave!"

Once Peter made sure that Luis had left, he and Maria had turned their attention towards Luna. The girl had been awfully quiet since her father's confession and she remained at the dining table.

"Mija?" Maria softly whispered. "Are you okay?"

"It's nothing I didn't already know, mami," Luna scoffed as she moved to stand up from her seat. "At least he finally admitted it."
