&Tonights...; Chapter 25 "Kale's House,"

Hanna's Point of View

We pulled up in front of Kale's house. I climbed out of the car and grabbed a few of my bags from the trunk. Kale grabbed the rest, closed the trunk, and lead me into the house.

"Hey you two love birds!" Kale's mom greeted us.

"Mom, not in the mood." Kale growled.

She went silent. I followed Kale up the stairs. His room was at the very end of the hallway if you turn left, so we turned right. We walked to the end of the long hallway, and he kicked open the door.

"There. You're as far away as you can possibly be."

I could tell he was hurt, but he deserved it, didn't he?

"Kale,"

"Just forget it, Hanna. Dinner's at 6."

"Thanks,"

I started to unload my bags into the drawers. There was a knock on the door.

"Yes?"

"Hey," Brent spoke gently, "how are you?"

"Alright, Kale's not really helping."

"Yeah, he's an ass. What did he do?"

"He slept with my best friend."

"Hanna, I-"

"Yeah, it's fine."

"He didn't sleep with Lily."

"How--"

"He tells me everything. He's a virgin, Han."

"Really?"

"Yeah,"

"I just thought--"

"You're the only girl he's ever kissed."

"He kissed Lily, I saw them."

"He did what?"

"Yep."

"I'll talk to him."

"Wait, I was his first kiss?"

"Yes,"

"Like, a few days ago?"

"Yes,"

"It's hard to believe all of this happened within like a week."

"I know, Han."

"Thank you, Brent."

"I'm sorry about your parents."

"It's OK."

"And your sister. Is she alright?"

"Yeah, she's staying with my grandparents."

"That's probably the best."

"Yeah, and I'm all alone now."

"You have Kale."

"Not anymore,"

"I'm sure he still loves you."

"Not after how rude I was to him. I didn't believe him!"

"Don't worry about it. He loves you more than anything in the world."

"Really?"

"Yeah, he just wants to protect you."

"I feel really bad. I thought he lied."

"He didn't lie."

"I know that now."

"Just talk to him."

I just started crying. Everything hit me. My parents were dead. My sister was living with my grandparents after she ran away and tried to kill herself. My best friend kissed my boyfriend and then tried to get him to sleep with her after lying about me sleeping with someone else. I was living in my boyfriend's house, but he probably hated me because I didn't believe him. But, he was telling the truth. Brent's arms wrapped around me. I felt warm and safe in his arms. He just held onto my tightly.

"It's OK." he whispered.

"I want Kale." I mumbled.

"Sit down," Brent instructed, helping me onto the bed.

He left the room, and soon Kale came up and knocked on my door. He pushed it gently open, and I ran into his arms. He wrapped his arms around my back while my hands were wrapped around his waist. My tears stained his light grey t-shirt.

"I'm really, really sorry, Kale." I mumbled into his shirt.

"Shh, don't worry about it. Just relax. Shhh,"

"Kale, iwasjustreallyscaredandwithcallieandlilyliedandi'mreallyscaredthati'llhavetoleaveyoubut," I took a breath, "nowimhereinyourarmsandiloveyouso,somuch."

"What?" he laughed.

"I was just really scared and with Callie, and Lily lied, and I'm really scared that I'll have to leave you but now I'm here in your arms and I love you so, so much."

"Shh! Just shut up, Hanna!" He exclaimed.

I looked up at him. He lifted me into his arms, bridal-style and laid me onto my back on the bed. He crawled over me and looked deep into my eyes.

"Are we done with this?"

"With us? No, I don't want to be--"

He cut me off, kissing my lips. When he pulled away, he smiled at me.

"No, not with us. With this mess. Are we done with the lies, the pain?"

"Yes."

"Good. I love you so much!"

"I love you too, Kale."

"I'm glad we're done with all of this."

"Me too,"

"Babe, I think you should get some rest. I'll wake you up for dinner."

I grabbed his arm as he turned to leave.

"Kale?"

"Mm?"

"Can you lay with me?"

"Sure, baby." He whispered, climbing back into my new bed.

He wrapped his arms around me, and I rested my head on his chest. This felt better.
