Jack gently caught Elsa in his arms before her head collided with the cavern floor. He slowly lowered her unconscious body down and looked her over, he had never seen anyone or anything like her before. When their eyes locked, hers were the most beautiful shade of cyan blue, her long platinum hair complimented her alabaster skin in a way that was almost mesmerizing. She was flawless, then Jack took into account a twinge of pain on the left side of his face with a slight smirk. "Wow, this girl can punch."
Then he noticed how much damage she had received moments prior. Her cape was ripped from her white dress, leaving only shreds of fabric behind along with small tears around the skirt and torso, she had a large, red abrasion on her neck from where Pitch held her, multiple scrapes and bruises from the vortex and a large scratch on her right arm with small grains of black sand surrounding the open area. Taking action, he tore off a long piece of his cloak and covered it with frost.
"Hey Sandy," Jack gestured "if you don't mind...?" Catching on, Sandy coated the inside of the fabric with more dream sand and Jack carefully wrapped it around Elsa's injury. As he was doing so, he noticed the lack of warmth to her skin, despite the clear rosiness in her cheeks. When North places his hand on his shoulder, or Tooth hugs him he usually feels the warmth against his ice cold skin, but not this time, Elsa's body temperature completely matched his. "Who are you?" He whispers to her.
"JACK!" He hears North call out through the mouth of the tunnel, Jack glances at Sandy. "We need to go, now!" He signed
Jack gives him a nod, carefully picked Elsa up, bridal-style, and proceeds to fly back down the ice tunnel, with Sandy right behind him, until they reach the rest of the Guardians. As soon as Jack and Sandy land in the room, the Guardians and Olaf rush towards them when they see Elsa's limp form in Jack's arms.
"Oh my...is she okay?" Olaf asked concerningly.
"Don't worry, she's just fine. Sandy just knocked her out." replied Jack as he continued walking towards the opening.
"WHAT?" Olaf jumped as his head flew a few inches from his shoulders.
"Oh no, not like that," Tooth reassured the snowman as the others started to walk towards the entrance to the sea, "Jack meant with Sandy's dream sand. It's completely harmless."
"Oh, okay then" he giggled and follow suit as Bunnymund rolled his eyes in amusement. When outside, the Guardians were pleased to see that Olaf did in fact bring North's sleigh safely, surprisingly fast at that.
"Vot eto da! Snowman, how were you able to get here with such speed?" Exclaimed North.
"Oh it was simple," snickered Olaf "I used to drive sleds all the time with my buddy's reindeer, Sven, a long time ago. Although, I did make his sled catch fire at Christmas one time, but everything was fine, the fruitcake was indestructible anyway." Everyone was confused at his last comment, but paid it no mind as they climbed into the sleigh. Jack gently laid Elsa down onto a seat next to him, buckled the seatbelt around her and made sure she was secure. North was about to take off when he noticed a purple mark on Jack's face.
"Jack, are you alright?" He asked behind his broad shoulders, then Sandy, Bunny, Tooth and Olaf took notice as well.
Jack shifted his eyes confusingly, "Yeah. Why?" He looked to Tooth as she made a gesture towards the left side of her face. "Oh right, it's just a bruise. Nothing serious" he reassured. Just as he looked towards Sandy, the little man pointed towards Elsa with a bright grin on his face, and everyone started to piece it together.
Bunnymund burst into laughter, "She gave you a shiner? HA! I like this sheila already." Jack scoffed at Bunny's hilarity and turned away with a blush spreading across his face in embarrassment. Unbeknownst to Bunny, North adjusted his reigns and the reindeer began to shuffle.
"Hold onto your buttons, Olaf!" North warned, and with a snap of the reigns, they lurched forward, catching Bunny off guard and launching him back into the back seats with Olaf landing right on top of him, or rather his head, to which Jack chuckled in retaliation. As they flew into the air, North spoke into the snow globe and threw it right in front of the air, but before they went through the portal, Jack placed his arm over Elsa. Jack didn't know why he did it, but all of a sudden he just felt so protective over her. With another snap from North, they shot through the portal towards the Pole.
Just as they had disappeared, Pitch came out from the shadows of Ahtohallan with a wicked smile. "You think you have beaten me, Frost. But the fun is just beginning." From behind him, a nightmare emerged with a whiny. Without taking his eyes off the sky, he turns his head says, "I can feel the Nattmara's power growing, it's not strong enough for my plan, but it soon will be. Search the glacier for the crystal. With this power, my victory will be absolute."
To be continued...
