She is a wolf with a human mask. The night eats her up and she howls a lower rumble outside of human audible range but she is fierce. And she will race the moonlight until she outruns the sunrise.

NOVEMBER 1ST, 20XX
BELFAST, MAINEWhen the monsoon hit the small bay town of Belfast, most of the people locked themselves up in their homes to hide from the storm. The heavy downpour caused the roads to flood; the bay itself was a threatening omen for those driving along the scenic route up the coast. Anybody who dared drive the highway looping the bay was at risk for a wave crashing over their car and causing a serious, maybe even fatal accident. There were only a few gas stations in town, though a particular favorite of somebody's was just on the outskirts of Belfast. She chose to stop at this one to refill her tank and pick up cigarettes before and after work, depending on if she was heading into or leaving town. The reason for that was because depending on the day, she was able to score a free box of American Spirits from a specific cashier that always hit on her. Though today she wasn't in the mood to do much idle chit chatting.
Astrid Stawarski started her day off on the wrong side of her bed. Her phone hadn't charged the previous night which caused it to be dead in the morning. That led to her waking up an hour after her shift started which caused her to be grilled by her boss the second that she walked through the door. After promising that it would never happen again, Astrid went about her general duties as a bank clerk. She didn't care to pay much attention to the number of customers that were rude to her throughout her shift, but it was enough to have her done with everybody's shit by the time she clocked out. She bid one of her coworkers goodbye before they watched her white ponytail sway as she stomped out the door.
The second after she started her Mazda3 she sighed and unbuttoned the collar of her stiff shirt underneath her rain jacket. She let her hair down and ran her fingers through it in an attempt to relieve some of her tension as her phone hooked up to the Bluetooth. The rain against her windshield was blinding when she left the parking lot and made her way to the outskirts of town. She had no choice but to put them on high so she could increase her view of the road. Thankfully the gas station that she always stopped at wasn't more than a ten minute drive from her work. After she pulled into the parking lot she climbed out of her car and raced to the door to outrun the rain, lowering the hood of her coat when the familiar door chime jingled over her head. Her turquoise eyes briefly flitted across the store to check for other customers even though she didn't notice any other cars in the lot when she pulled in. Just as she took note that it was empty, she heard the familiar voice of the cashier that had absolutely no game.
"Astrid, the angel, once again walks through my door."
"Jules." She greeted curtly, pivoting on the balls of her feet and wandering down an aisle. "How is the weather treating you?"
"I'd prefer a snowy day over this rain." The man scoffed. Astrid wasn't paying much attention to Jules—he wasn't much to look at nor was he her type; but he was always flirting with her. He was ridiculously chasing a tail that she never gave him the option to target in the first place, and he didn't have to give her the pack of American Spirit blacks. She never specifically asked him for them anyways—they just always happened to be in the minuscule bag that she received after getting some gum and a few candy bars from the shelves.
"You and me both." She mused, proceeding to grab her usual flavor of gum and candy, tossing them lightly on the counter so Jules could ring them up afterwards.
