The East Indian company of the Netherlands officially started their business both at New York, America and Tainan, Taiwan at the same year, which is 1624. During the Dutch colonial, the company both make money from them by trading animal skin. However, as you guys can see, today there's a really huge gap between the level of Taiwan and the US (maybe you even first learned there's a thing that called Taiwan today :⋁).
