"Hey hun, how was class?" Renjun asked habitually, even though Yangyang was out of college now.
"Oh yeah, it was great, we learned how to do cpr on a pigeon" Yangyang replied sarcastically.
"Poor pigeon" Renjun replied equally sarcastic.
"How was your day?" Yangyang asked, hooking his arms around Renjun's neck from behind.
"Pretty boring, it's lonely without you"
"Aw, well I'm here now so be glad"
Yangyang smiled, sighed, and rested his head on Renjun's shoulder.
"Something wrong?"
"No no, just, thinking"
"About?"
Yangyang paused for a moment before the smile left his face and he let go of Renjun, taking his hands instead.
"Renjun.." Yangyang began
Renjun raised an eyebrow, stomach dropping at the thought of what Yangyang was to say.
Had he been cheating and this was his confession? Was he going to propose? All these thoughts kept circling Renjun's mind as Yangyang took a deep breath.
"I have to go"
"Go?"
"Back to Germany"
Renjun stared at the floor, and began to laugh.
Of course, why hadn't he figured it out before? It was one of the jokes that Yangyang liked to play. Yangyang liked to do pranks like this, as if they were a hetero youtube couple.
"Alright, you got me-" Renjun's smile dropped as he saw Yangyang's somber expression.
"You're- you're not joking?" Renjun asked panickedly.
"I'm sorry love, it's my mother"
"Oh..is she sick again?"
"No, this time it's much worse.." Yangyang's face now showed a bitter expression, one which could symbolize the anger and resentment in his heart, but to what was still unknown.
"Can't I go with you?"
"I would love for you to come, but, with both of us gone, who would pay the bills? And who would feed bella?"
"I can get Kun to work extra shifts, and Xiaojun isn't doing anything-"
"Baby, please. It's better for me to go alone"
"But, what about me?"
"It's only a few weeks, I'll be back before you know it"
Renjun frowned, heart beginning to ache at even the thought of being apart from Yangyang for more than a few hours.
"Look at me"
Renjun looked up into Yangyang's eyes, falling into his touch when Yangyang brought a hand up to his face.
"I love you, Renjun" Yangyang said in a soft tone.
Renjun sighed, bringing his head forward to lean on Yangyang's chest.
"When do you leave?" Renjun mumbled.
"Tomorrow, at ten"
Renjun hummed, stomach churning with emotions as Yangyang ran his fingers through his hair.
