Attention please. This is an announcement for all the passengers travelling through INDIGO FLIGHT NO- 6E 431 flying from MUMBAI TO CHENNAI. Your flight has been delayed due to bad weather conditions. We'll be soon announcing it's boarding once we are ready to take off. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Sivaangi heaved a helpless sigh first at the announcement and then at her phone screen, which showed her mother id.
"Amma! Nambu ma. Flight has been delayed, " Sivaangi spoke in an unusual low voice to not gain any attention for she's sure this phone call is soon going to turn into an argument.
"Poi solladha Sivaangi! Flight a miss pannita dhana?" Her mother's disbelief irked her.
"Sathiyama ila ma. Ipo dhan announcement kooda pannanga," she answered raising her voice a bit this time.
"Line laiye iru!" She walked towards the announcement desk and smiled at the flight staff politely.
"Yes ma'am! How can I help you?" She asked all the while smiling at her.
"Hi, actually can you please repeat the announcement about flight delay? I didn't hear it properly?" She knew she sounded like a dumb person. But she don't have anyother option.
"Yes ma'am!" The staff looked friendly and she repeated the announcement again while Sivaangi quickly placed her phone near the desk for her mother to hear it clearly.
"Ketucha? I have to stay inside this airport till further announcement! Summa phone pannama iru ma!" Irritation was quiet evident in her voice.
"Seri seri. Ne edhachum saapdu. Summa pizza burger nu ilama nalladha vangi saapdu!" Sivaangi rolled her eyes on hearing her mother's advice.
"Mumbai airport la Saravana bhavan dhana vechirukanga! Full meals saapda!" She muttered under her breathe and quickly cut the call.
Stuffing her phone and boarding pass inside her hand purse, her eyes roamed everywhere searchingly. The instant brightness shining in her eyes was enough to convey that she has found the place which can help her use the waiting time. The cafe.
She took her order- cold coffee with a chocolate waffle and started walking towards the unoccupied space with her eyes still glued to the phone looking at the instagram feeds.
She sat on the chair and was about to place the things she's holding on the table, when someone appeared in front of her face out of nowhere and shouted with his outstretched hands, "booommmmmmmm!"
Startled, Sivaangi shrieked with panic. The contents of her hands were scattered on the floor as her eyes shut close and hands reached over her racing heart.
It was then she realised her chair been supported by two strong arms from behind. If not for the strong hold of that person, she would have slipped and kissed the ground already.
"You okay Mam?" The guy holding the chair asked from behind and carefully placed the chair down.
"Dev!what is this behaviour?" The guy asked showing displeasure in his voice, while Sivaangi finally opened her eyes to see a kid of little more than half her height laughing at her. He's a well to do boy of around 7-8 years with messy hair peeking through his cap. A empty space of upper jaw can be seen when he seemed to be laughing unabashedly.
"I thought it was you and wanted to scare you. So I hid under the table. But she came and sat," the kid explained pointing his fingers towards her.
Sivaangi was too stunned to react. Cha! Kozhandhai munnadi asingama poche!
The young man with dark black hair bent to pick up her stuffs that included her purse and mobile phone while her waffle was happily lying on the airport floor. She couldn't see much of him until he straightened up and extended her things to return.
