use somebody by kings of leon

We spent most of the morning driving over, since we were only moving a couple of hours north, so thankfully we got here pretty quickly. We actually ended up leaving the house at 6am to get a head start on the movers. So that was fun.

It was a little past 3 now and we had already finished unloading everything from the moving truck and our car. Now we were just trying to figure out where to put everything.

A couple of more hours passed and we had finally finished unloading after that we'd just been moving things into the new house. Eventually we gave in and decided to take a break and find somewhere to eat in town since it was getting a little late and we hadn't eaten much all day.

We finally found a little chinese buffet near by and decided to get take out from there. Normally the thought of getting take out instead of dining in would be annoying as hell, but under the circumstances — me being extremely tired— I let it slide this time.

We both grabbed the to-go boxes and filled them up to the brim since they weren't charging by the weight.

Shortly after we left and drove back home. Faint music and the sound of the tires hitting the road was the only thing that I listened to the whole ride home. It was so peaceful, even though normally I hated long periods of silence.

20 minutes later we made it back home and finally ate. I watched ocean's 8 on my laptop while I ate and my mom scrolled through her emails on her laptop while she ate.

"It's already 9, and I have to go meet the people at my new job so I'm gonna take a shower and go to sleep." my mom says as she walks towards me and leaning in to give me a goodnight kiss. "Oh okay, I was thinking of heading to bed too." I say returning the gesture.

I lied ... I wasn't going to go to sleep anytime soon, but she didn't need to know that.

I usually only stayed up a little while after she went to sleep but today I was gonna take advantage of the late night burst of energy. I quietly pull parts of the bookshelf out of a box and start laying them out to rebuild it. I was just gonna build the bookshelf for now, while I waited for her to finish showering so I could shower.

30 minutes passed by and I heard my mom close her bedroom door so I started grabbing my clothes to go take my own shower. I had built about three-fourths of the bookshelf so I decided to just go shower and then come back and finish it after.

When I finished showering I almost slipped on my way out of the shower. So I'll have to remember to ask my mom to buy us a shower mat since she probably had the same problem.

Last night I laid in bed after not being able to find my moisturizer and I ended up just falling asleep after I took a shower. So I guess I was exhausted after all.

It's 10:04am now, so I figured I should just wake up and keep taking stuff out of boxes. I walked down the stairs to go see if there was anything I could quickly eat for breakfast and saw a sticky note stuck to one of the kitchen cabinets.

"Left for orientation, I'll probably be back around 5, love you <3-mom". I read aloud.

That meant I had the house to myself for —roughly— 7 hours. Nice.

I made myself a slice of French toast and then went back upstairs to continue unpacking peacefully.

I grabbed my speaker out of my backpack, turned it on, and started looking for my phone. Once I finally found my phone and connected it to the speaker, I put on my 'throwbacks' playlist since it seemed fitting for the occasion. Use Somebody by Kings of Leon came on first and I smiled as the music drowned out the silence.
