Kinley rolls over with a large yawn and cuddles in closer to a familiar bony body. Her nose wrinkles as the scent of his body odor hits her. Whining like she's done the past two years since Alex hit puberty, she moans, " Alexxxx. Your armpits stink again."

A hand fights with their covers, shooting into the air, before coming down and smacking her on the thigh. Kinley cries out even though she feels fine enough to keep her eyes closed, " Ow! That hurt!"
"Shut the ever-living-fuck-up, no it didn't."

Kinley opens one blue eye with a grin, " You're right, it didn't. But you still smell."

Alex grumbles, rolling onto his back and shoving her out of his arms to rub a hand down his face. Kinley catches herself from falling over the edge of his twin bed just barely and laughs, " Hey, you almost pushed me off the bed."
"That was the idea, " Alex grumbles into his palm.

He peaks through his fingers, already smirking. He bursts into laughter once he lays eyes on Kinley sitting there with a puppy pout.
"Butt head," she grumbles. He snorts and jackknifes out of the bed with a ridiculous yawn, " Go get breakfast going and I'll wash the manly man off."

Kinley gets up in a fit of giggles and does just that. Alex smiles in secret at her retreating form, that warm feeling that always follows when she's around making his heart feel fuzzy.

Alex rolls his eyes as soon as he enters the kitchen and sees Kinley's idea of breakfast - cereal.
"Sara will shit a brick if she finds out we've eaten cereal again," he points out while falling into his chair like a rock. Kinley grins all cheeky like, " It'll have to be our secret. If you rat us out, I'll tell her that it was you who split bleach on her favorite blazer."

Alex slowly looks up from his cereal bowl, having had it right up to his mouth. He points with his spoon, glaring at her in warning, " You dirty twat. 'Ight, I see how it is."

After breakfast the two decide to have a lazy day. With a cheesy eighties action movie on and still in their pajamas from the impromptu sleepover the night before, Alex plops Kinley down in front of him between his legs and begins working on her hair with a brush. This is routine for the two in the mornings. Alex doesn't particularly like doing hair, but he enjoys playing with theirs. He also can't stand Kinley's inability to look presentable at any given time.

He calls it ' dark magic'.

"Where's your mom? Did she have to work late again?" Kinley asks, simply watching the flickering images mindlessly on the television without actually taking them in. Alex grunts, his voice entirely blasé despite what he says, " Nah, she's cleaning dad's grave again. It's getting a little dirty apparently."

It's silent for a bit, Kinley staring at the carpet floors with a look of deep thought. It's when Alex begins to braid her hair that she finally speaks her mind on the matter, " Do you ever think you'll want to join her one day?"

Immediately he replies, " Nope."

Kinley tilts her head back, an unhappy frown on her face. Her voice almost comes out chastising, " Alex.'
He smirks down at her, " Oh no you don't. We already have one mommy in the group. I can't handle another one. It's fine booboo. It doesn't make me sad to go see his grave. I just really don't see the point in going. That's what the groundskeepers are for, ya know?"

Kinley is still frowning when she looks back down at the floor so Alex can finish her hair.
"If you say so."

The two joke around for the rest of the day until it's time for her to go. It's this moment that reveals something Alex didn't disclose to the others when they'd asked about his last moments with Kinley. When Kinley pulled away, she didn't just turn around and leave without a word. In fact, she turned back to him once more before leaving for good.

Kinley smiles at Alex. It's not her usual smile. It's sad, grieving. She doesn't say anything for a few minutes, simply content to watch him.  Finally, resolve flashes in her eyes before she digs out a tiny glass vial with a cluster of small deep blue flowers inside it, sealed with a cork.

" Do you know what this is?" She asks him, though it borderline sounds rhetorical. He shakes his head, brow furrowed in confusion as he studies the vial, " Can't say I do."

She looks up at him and beams brightly, so bright it makes his heart hurt, " It's a forget-me-not. Here." Kinley hands the vial over to him. Alex keeps darting his eyes between the vial and Kinley, growing more and more perplexed the more he does, " What's this for?"

It is this that is truly the last thing she said to him. With a bright beautiful smile and sky blue eyes dimming with sadness, she says, " So you'll never forget how much I love you."
