Chapter 6 - Shadow POV

As I stood on the Launchpad, I listened to Marshal's booming voice through the speakers. Jaeger Fleet report on the Launchpad now! My heart raced as I heard the urgency in his tone. We all gathered together, anxious to hear what was happening.

"What happened, Marshall?" I asked, my voice shaking slightly.

"Jaegers!!" He began, his voice tense. "We recently got reports of a new kaiju movement at the far south of Shatterdome."

I felt a chill run down my spine. This was not good news. I glanced at Eden, who seemed lost in thought. He hadn't spoken to me since the incident a week ago, and we had been avoiding each other ever since.

"Eden Assassin, are you present?" Marshall's voice. Looks like he wasn't present.

"Yes, sir," Eden replied, snapping out of his thoughts.

"Very well, then you and Shadow will go on scouting. Here are the coordinates."

I nodded silently, as Eden answered with a yes and I left for the coordinates. As we traveled to the site, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong. We arrived and began to scout the area, but found nothing. As the sun began to set, I suggested that we head back to the Shatterdome.

Before we left, Eden spoke up. "I think I want to say something to you, Shadow."

I turned to face him, wondering what he could possibly want to say. My heart raced as he stuttered out his confession of love for me. I was taken aback, unsure of how to respond.

I was about to reply when I heard a rustling in the nearby bushes. Eden didn't seem to notice it, so I ignored it as well. But as we kissed, I saw movement out of the corner of my eye.

Suddenly, a massive kaiju emerged from the bushes, its eyes fixed on us. I screamed and pushed Eden away, trying to think of a way to fight the beast. But it was too strong, and it knocked me to the ground.

Eden sprang into action, his blades flashing as he fought the kaiju. I watched in awe as he fought with everything he had, determined to protect me. But as the kaiju lifted him up in its jaws, I knew that he was in grave danger.

I screamed his name, tears streaming down my face. Suddenly, a burst of energy erupted from within me, and I felt a surge of power course through my body. I leapt to my feet, my hands glowing with a brilliant blue light.

I charged at the kaiju, my hands outstretched, and slammed into its side with all my might. The kaiju roared in pain and dropped Eden, who landed heavily on the ground. I ran to him, checking to see if he was okay. He looked up at me, his eyes full of gratitude and love.

"Thank you, Shadow," he whispered.

I helped him to his feet, and we ran back to the Shatterdome as fast as we could. As we reached the safety of the base, we embraced, grateful to be alive.
