There's a high pitched scream, a shake, and then you dash forward to fight. The ghast shoots a fireball at you and you kneel down to block it with your shield. Heat surrounds you as the fire connects with with your shield and tries to push you over. You dig your back foot into the earth until the heat subsides. Then you pull out your bow and fire a spectral arrow at the ghast. You have to appreciate that at least it's a big target. You shoot a second as the ghast returns fire. The arrow collides with the fireball and explodes midair, sending sparks showering down.

You hold your shield above your head to block the fallout and glance back to see how Ender is doing. The giant magma cube has split into four large cubes but Ender is able to teleport between them to launch separate attacks against the increasing hoard. The earthen bridge shakes and you steady yourself. Another fireball flies at you, faster than the last. You drop your shield from your head. Fire brushes past your hand, and you wince in pain but manage to block the majority of the blow.

You shoot one more arrow and the ghast falls from the sky, crashing down into the lava, sending a splash up. You jump back to avoid any reaching you, then look over to see how ender is doing. The magma cubes are small now but there are an overwhelming amount of them. You put your bow away and pick up your sword, running forward to help ender. You slice through a cube and it forms two more. You cut through them in one slice and they finally perish. As you turn around one jumps up at your chest, pushing you onto your back. Your armor begins to heat up and burn, but you manage to push it off with your sword.

You make quick work of killing it after you get back on your feet. "Ender, are you alright?" You ask, looking over the crowd of magma cubes. Ender warps in front of you and kisses your head before teleporting away to keep fighting. You take that as a yes and raise your sword again. You swing and stab until your arms are positively sore and tied. But finally, there seem to be no more cubes and no more threats.

Ender looks back at you from a ways down the bridge and gives a tired, but triumphant smile. You return the smile and discard your broken helmet into the lava below. You never expected the gold armor to last long. Then you dig into your inventory for a replacement gold helmet so the piglen don't see you as a threat. To your relief you don't see any near. But that doesn't mean they don't see you.

An arrow, fired from a powerful crossbow hits your chest, denting your armor and sending you stumbling backwards. One step, two steps, and then you slip and can't catch yourself. Your heart drops first. Then the rest of you begins to fall, headlong towards the lake of lava. You scream in terror as the inevitably of your demise dawns on you. But your fall is cut short and you come to a screeching halt mid air.

You look up, dizzy from fright to see Ender above you, holding onto your ankle with a death grip. It's the only thing keeping you from plummeting into the lava. Another arrow whizzes past your head and Ender uses his free hand to point to the helmet still in your hand. You hastily push it onto your head and the attacks stop. Then Ender pulls you up onto the earth bridge, safely above the lava and into a tight hug. You can't tell who's shaking more between the two of you, as you hold onto each other like a lifeline.

Steam starts to rise around you and you realize Ender is being hurt by his own tears. "Hey, don't cry I'm alright! We're going to be ok," you comfort him and simultaneously tell yourself that you're still alive. Ender pulls back but only far enough to see your face. He brings a hand up to your cheek then uses his thumb to swipe away some dirt and blood on your cheekbone.

"I can't thank you enough," you whisper. Ender still shakes, but the steam subsides as he rises to his feet and helps you up as well. He motions in the direction of the portal, you don't want to spend any more time here.

You hold onto Ender's hand and finish crossing the bridge. Next you hurry down the rock structure, and dutifully avoid even looking at the piglen that shot you with an arrow. You down another fire resistance potion just in case as you cross fields of netherrack and lava spots. Ender stays close to your side as you follow your soul torches all the way back to the portal. Now a bit more battered and bruised, but alive nonetheless, you once again step into the portal with Ender.
