Will and my parents exchanged what must have been the first in-person conversation they'd had in months. Stuff like how he's doing, how he's paying his bills, if he's eating healthy. Stupid parent stuff, y'know?
I recognize the same look on his face that I make, especially the eye roll, when Mom asked if he was going to bed at a normal time. I snickered.
Eventually they drove off, big smiles on their faces. Will and I immediately got to work, carrying my bags up the stairs.
"You've gotten taller!" He started, patting my head with one hand, suitcase in the other.
"I've been the same height since I turned 15, Will."
We arrived at his door, and he nudged it open with his shoulder. Stepping inside, he held it open for me.
I looked around. The place was surprisingly nice. Clean and If I dare say it... aesthetic. He had plants and string lights on shelves on the walls, his guitars propped up on stands, and a big green couch. A large flat screen sat in the corner of the living room.
"Comfy place. I like the lights." I placed the luggage down against the wall.
"I know, It's crazy you've never seen it before." He replied, slipping his shoes off at the door. I follow to do the same.
"Crazy you've never invited me over before." I mumbled under my breath, quietly enough so he couldn't understand.
"Anyway, let me give you some time to unpack and unwind. I know car trips with mom and dad are just. So. Fun." He offered, picking up my luggage and leading the way. I follow in suit, peering around at the decorations and furniture. Twitch pay must be real good.
There was four doors in his hallway. One room glowed pink, a big neon sign on the wall that I didn't get the chance to read, but accompanied with his gaming set up. I assume that's where he does his streams.
The next was a room with a big bed, and a sliding glass door leading to a tiny deck. Laundry was strewn across the carpet and the bed was unmade. Probably Will's room.
The bathroom was across the hall, and looked and smelled clean. Definitely surprising.
Wilbur lead me into the last room in the hallway. "This is where you'll be staying. Don't mind the sweatshirt hanging in the closet, my friend Tommy sometimes stays here. But this is your room now."
I sat down on the queen sized bed. The comforter was white and really fluffy. He had already decorated the room with string lights and...?
I raised my eyebrow at the paintings on the wall.
"Oh, yeah, don't mind the fan art in here either. We can take it down this week - I just didn't have anywhere to put it." He explained, motioning towards the Minecraft character in what looked like a Revolutionary War costume on the wall.
"That's fine, they're kind of cool. Minecraft is fun anyway. Remember when we used to play?"
Will laughed. "Mhm, the 'Rilbur' server we had. Those were the good old days."
I couldn't help but smile at the thought. I did miss him I guess. I rolled my suitcases over to the bed. Will stood in the middle of the room, staring awkwardly.
I unzipped my suitcase, and looked back at him, expecting him to say something. He opened his mouth, seemingly looking for words. Is small talk with your sister really that difficult Will?
The vibration of his phone suddenly saved us from the awkwardness. He pulled his phone out of his pocket. "I'm going to go take this, I'm in the living room if you need anything."
And with that, he turned and walked out of the room, gently closing the door behind him.
I started to unpack and put my things into drawers and around the room. I took off my sweatshirt and put it in the closet, next to green one hanging.
There was a small desk in the corner of the room, and I put my laptop and notebooks there too. It was a comfy little room, and it smelled like pine trees and laundry detergent.
I pulled out my phone and took a snap of my bed. "new room i guess" I typed and posted it on my story.
