We walked on the boardwalk, looking for somewhere to get food. Everything smelled good - pizza, ice cream, funnel cake, chips. I spaced out while we strolled, Tommy and Tubbo making a TikTok with Wilbur, Jack and Niki having a conversation. I held my new pink axolotl by my side.
"What about this place?" Tubbo spoke up, pointing at the ice cream place reeking of sugar and vanilla.
"Tubbo, we can't eat ice cream for lunch." Niki giggled.
"Let's go to the bar next to it! Let's get drunk! I am an adult who drinks!" Tommy yelled, flexing his muscles and raising his eyebrows. Will rolled his eyes, and I giggled.
We settled on a food stand that had regular fast food - burgers, chips, hot dogs, sandwiches - that kind of stuff.
"Awh, look, our shadows on the wall. Let's take a picture!" Niki said. I looked over to the wall to the left of the line. Maybe Will would let me keep the photo since technically my face isn't in it.
We all posed and I took out my phone, snapping a picture.

Tommy peered over my phone. And snorted. "Look at Jack's bald head!"
"Give me that!" Jack yelled, grabbing my phone. "I don't look bald," he pouted, handing the phone back.
"Can you send that to me?" Niki asked, she turned to Will, "And can you send Riley's number in the group chat, pleaseee?"
Will nodded and pulled out his phone, speedily typing in numbers. I looked up at Will and made a pouting face. "Can I post it, pleaseeeeee? My face isn't in it! And I won't tag anyone. It's just a cute picture." I begged, shoving my phone in his face.
He looked at the photo and raised his eyebrows. "I'll think about it."
Feeling a vibration in my pocket, I pulled out my phone and realized I had 4 texts from 4 different numbers. Jack, Niki, Tommy, and Tubbo all asking for the picture. I happily sent it over, putting contacts in for their phone numbers.
By the time I looked back up, we were at the front of the line and all ordered food.
After munching on our pizza and burgers, we strolled over to the rides at the end of the pier. Tommy, Tubbo and I walked together, while Niki, Wilbur and Jack walked ahead, talking about media managers and I guess business stuff - I really didn't understand much of it when they talked about it.
"Riley, have you ever streamed before?" Tubbo asked, stealing a chip straight out of Tommy's hand.
"Oi, Tubbo!" Tommy made a loud grunt noise, which I have noticed he does a lot.
"Nope." I said, popping the 'p', and then also stealing a chip out of Tommy's hand.
"What the hell!" He yelped, swatting at me.
"Honestly I've never even used Twitch before, other than to check out some of Wilbur's stuff. It all seems pretty... complex I guess?" I shrugged.
That was a white lie - I have also used Twitch to look at both boys' content after getting to know them, but they don't need to know that.
"You should check it out, maybe one day we can convince Wilbur to let you game with us on a stream." Tubbo suggested.
Tommy nodded in a agreement. "Our fans would give us some nickname too - something trio." He laughed, and then tossed his chips in the bin.
"Hey, I would have eaten those!" Tubbo grumbled.
"You've already eaten most of them!"
"He's a growing boy Tommy! Don't make him starve!" I went along with Tubbo in the teasing. Tommy rolled his eyes and we finally were in the amusement park area.
I didn't know exactly what it was, but something about Tommy and Tubbo - and even Niki and Jack - it was different than hanging out with my other friends. It felt lighter. It felt safer. I felt like I was making real friends.
