A Woman Scorned!

CHAPTER 17

Both Ash and I have been coughing uncontrollably waiting for the ambulance.

I've been trying to keep him awake as he keeps dozing off.

"Leeya?"

I turn my head to look at the shocked, worried Vin who's just frozen there.

"Vin, help me." I cry out and all he can do is run to me, fall on his knees and hold me in his arms.

"What happened Princess? You're hurt. Who did this to you?"
"Help him, please help Ash."

He lets go of me and turns his focus on Ash.
"Oh no! He looks pretty bad, I'll call an ambulance."
"I already did, they're on their way."
He pauses about to reach for his phone in his pocket.

Soon after, I can hear sirens as the ambulance and fire fighters pull up.
"They're here." Vin gets up running towards the gate.

The paramedics come running following him to our direction.

"Ma'am are you in any pain?" One of the paramedics asks.
"I'm fine, please just help him."

"What do you mean you're fine Leeya? Your head is bleeding."
"Take him please."

After setting up the stretcher, they carry Ash from the ground and carefully lay him down. I watch as they run a check up on him.

"He has minor burns."
"Yes but could've inhaled a lot of smoke."
"His pulse is very low, it seems like his lungs are shutting down."
"We need to get him to the hospital right now."

I watch them take him, put him in an ambulance and drive away.

A few seconds after they leave, another ambulance pulls through. Taking out a stretcher and running to me.

"Please take care of her, she's hurt. Look at her hand."
"It's just a small burn Vin, I need to see Ash."

The paramedics are not paying attention to what I'm saying, just doing their job.

"Okay ma'am, we need to get you to the hospital."
"I'm fine really, I just need to see..."

"WILL YOU STOP WITH THIS ASH RUBBISH!" Vin snaps grabbing my shoulders.

"Listen princess, I know you're worried about him, but I'm worried about you. If you don't go to the hospital. You won't get better and if you don't get better, you won't see Ash. Come on, it's alright."

He pulls me into a soft hug then lets go, the paramedics put me on stretcher.

"You're coming with me right?" I ask holding his hand.

"Of course, right behind you with my car." He kisses my hand then I'm pushed away in the stretcher into the ambulance.

I look back to see the fire fighters putting out the fire.

Tears can't seem to stop escaping my eyes. Soon after, everything goes dark.
