Dinner

Cormac's POV:

         " What happened?" I ask coming up to the the girl. " 15 year old female in a car crash has a piece of medal in her abdomen and blunt force trauma to her head." mystery guy said. I grab the ultrasound kit so see if they're was a lot of blood in her stomach. " Whoa she needs to get to the O.R now.!" I said. They start wheeling her to the E.R. " Meredith I got this you can go on another case." Elijah said. " What? No! This is my case." She says. " I know but I don't want you in the same room with him." he said pointing at me. " That's not fair." Meredith said. " Ok do you want to be in the same room with your ex husband and your ex boyfriend for at least 6 hours?" he asked her. " OK never mind case is all yours." she said and walked away. Me and the mystery guy look at each other. " What did you do to piss him off?" he said. " Long story." I said. " I'll sum it up, he killed our mother." Elijah said and went into the scrub room. This is going to be fun. I thought to myself.

Meredith's POV:

          I was currently looking down from the O.R gallery just watching the surgery. " What are you doing mer?" Lexie asks. " I'm trying to make sure that they don't all try and kill each other." I said  putting my attention back to them. " Well what were you and Hayes?" she asked. " He was my boyfriend." I said and let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. " Oh, wow." she said. " What?" I ask looking at her. " It's just I thought you hated each other." she looked at me. " We did. But we saw past that." I said looking back at her. " How come your asking me this?" I asked. " What do you mean?" she says. " Don't you hate him? I mean he kinda killed mom. So why are you asking about him?" I ask curious. " Technically he didn't kill mom. I mean I'm mad at him but it was either mom or all those people in the store. We all know mom would've understood the choice." she said. " You and Elijah aren't technically her biological kids but you guys loved her. You and Elijah were closer to her than I was. Not that it was a bad thing because in the beginning I was closer to dad. Im just saying it hit Elijah the hardest. Thats why he's acting the way he is. Just give it time. Because surprisingly I'm rooting for the both of you." She said and hugged me.

( After Surgery )

The surgery was over and I was heading home for the family dinner that Elijah planned. Our dad couldn't make it but everyone else would be there. I walked inside and saw them preparing dinner. I put my stuff down and go over and see if I can help. " Do u want me to help?" I asked Elijah. " Oh no way, I don't trust you." he said. " What do you mean?" I ask. " He means that the kitchen isn't really your scenery." Derek said chuckling. " Whatever." I said and sat at the table. I waited until they started to serve the food.

" So how long are you going to be here in Seattle?" Lexie asked. " Im not sure but I know for at least the next two weeks." he responded. " Well if you want I'll get you privileges." Elijah said. " I would like that, thanks." he said looking at me. I look at him and look back at my food and took a bite.

" You know I miss the moments when we would go down to the lake and camp out with our families, including your annoying sisters, sorry Derek. But I miss that and we would sit around the campfire and roast marshmallows and argue about who got the best tent." Elijah said reminiscing. " Yea those memories are probably the most nostalgic thing ever. It was a time where we were all happy and complete." Derek said looking at me. For a moment when I looked back it felt as if time never changed but it did. " To the good old days." I said raising my glass of wine. " To the good old days." they said and we took a sip of our wine. We then went back to reminiscing for the rest of the dinner.

I was outside just clearing my head when I hear someone come out the door. " Hey." Derek said as I turned my head. " Hey." I respond back. " What are you doing out here?" he asked. " Just clearing my head." I respond. He then came over to me and wrapped his arm around me. I just rested my head on his shoulder enjoying this moment. After a couple minutes, I pick up my head and look in his eyes.

He looked at mine and it was like nothing ever changed. He leaned in and our lips touched. We kissed and all I could picture in my head was Cormac. As soon as his image appeared in my head I backed away. " What's wrong?" he asked. " Nothing just why are you really here in Seattle?" I asked. He sighed and looked at me and grabbed my head into one of his hands. " Honestly, I came to get you back. But now I realize that I shouldn't." he said. I looked at him shocked not sure of what to say. " You love him." he said. " Derek -" he cut me off. " No don't give me an excuse, I know you love him and that's okay. It's okay and I know it may not feel like it but it is. You don't have to feel guilty about it anymore. You can't help who you love." he said looking in my eyes. " Get him back mer. And if not for yourself then for me." he said and gave me a kiss on the cheek and went back inside. I just stood there thinking about what he said. Now I'm to sure what to do anymore.
