Chapter 17: The best week ever pt. 5

Setting: Marlo wakes up to a text from her mom asking if she and her dad can come over. Her parents don't know she's at Jimmy's.

Marlo wakes up 11 am and checks her phone. Jimmy is working at the desk diagonal from her and Loki is asleep under the desk.

Marlo: "SHIT!"

Jimmy: "Good Morning to you too. Sleep well?"

Marlo: "This is not a time for jokes. My parents wanna come over, but I'm not home. I'm not gonna go pretend I'm there either."

Jimmy: "Great! Now you have to invite them over."

Marlo: "What do I tell them?"

Jimmy: "How about, I've been sleeping at my boyfriend's for the week meet me there."

Marlo: "Yeah, that's a good idea."

Jimmy: "You aren't saying that are you?"

Marlo: "Absolutely not."

Marlo texted her parents and told them that she wasn't home and where they could meet her.

Jimmy: "What'd you say?"

Marlo: " I just told them that I wasn't home and they could meet me here."

Jimmy: "Time to get the house ready for company now."

Marlo and Jimmy started picking up around the house preparing for Marlo's parents to come. She was worried about their reaction when they find out she's been staying with Jimmy. They both went upstairs to make themselves presentable for company. Marlo heard the doorbell a few minutes later.

Marlo: "They're here! Grab Loki come on."

They walked downstairs to get the door. Jimmy set Loki on the ground to run around while Marlo opened the door.

Marlo: "Hey!" she said hugging her parents.

Tabitha: "Hi sweetheart!"

Tim: "How are you?"

Marlo: "I'm great! Mom and Dad this is my boyfriend Jimmy."

Marlo's parents looked at each other before answering. Little to Marlo's knowledge, her parents already knew that she was dating Jimmy because they visited her apartment before texting her.

Tabitha: "It's nice to finally meet you Jimmy. Marlo's friends told me so much about you."

Jimmy: "Oh, yeah Marlo talks about you guys all the time."

Marlo was shocked that her friends told her parents about Jimmy. She was happy that her mom had a positive response.

Tim: "So I hear you're a point guard, plan on going pro?"

Jimmy and Marlo's dad walked outside talking about basketball while Marlo and her mom stayed inside.

Marlo: "This is ou-"

Tabitha: "I'm really proud of you sweetie. You're balancing school and a social life so well. I don't get it, what was so hard the last few years?"

Marlo: "Mom, I really really like Jimmy. I even told him that I love him. It's so easy to be with him and tell him things!"

Tabitha: "You think he could be the one huh?"

Marlo continued rambling on about how much she loved Jimmy. Her mom was so happy to see her happy that it left no choice for her to like Jimmy. Tabitha bent down and picked up Loki.

Tabitha: "What's this little guy's name?" she said while smiling

Marlo: "His name is Loki."

Jimmy and Marlo's dad walked back inside and joined in on the girls conversation.

Tim: "Jimmy tells me you guys have a dog now? What's his name?"

Jimmy: "Loki."

Marlo: "His butt was green when we got him. It was from the grass he played in, that's why I picked him." she said laughing

Marlo, her parents and Jimmy continued the conversation for a few hours. Marlo was happy that her parents liked Jimmy. Marlo's parents were leaving because they had errands to run, so she walked them to the door.

Tabitha: "We'll see you at the game this weekend?"

Marlo: "Definitely!"

Tim: "Jimmy you better take care of her now. You have my number if anything ever goes wrong."

Jimmy: "Yes, of course!"

Marlo hugged her parents goodbye and shut the door. She tuned around to Jimmy and screamed.

Marlo: "I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT WENT WELL!!"

Jimmy: "Didn't I tell you that you had nothing to worry about?"

Marlo: "Yeah, you did."

Jimmy: "I'm always right."

Marlo: "That's a stretch, but omg they like you I can't I'm so fucking excited!"

Jimmy: "I can tell. Your dad's pretty cool. We're gonna go get drinks Friday."

Marlo: "You guys became besties in the 4 minutes you talked outside?" She said laughing

Jimmy: "Yes, we did. He's actually a really cool guy." He said laughing

Jimmy was thinking about how he asked Marlo's dad for the ok on her moving in. He just came right out and told Marlo he asked.

Jimmy: "Your dad said that you can move in. I asked."

Marlo: "You asked?!"

Jimmy: "Yeah, I asked. He said it was okay. That's why he gave me his number."

With the dog, the dates, Marlo's parents liking Jimmy, and her getting the okay to move in, it was definitely the best week ever. She couldn't wait for what was in store the next day.
