Earbuds

  He can never hear what I'm saying anymore. It's as if he's gone deaf. When I gave Soul those earbuds, I thought it would be a good gift. It must've been. He hasn't taken them out in two weeks. Well of course he takes them out so he can shower. But that's about it. I've grown accostom to them I guess. I just talk to him as if he can hear me, the only thing different is he doesn't respond.

  Right now, he's laying on the couch, listening to some heavy metal band, The Lightning Snake, or something stupid like that.

  "Soul! Do you want some curry?"

 

  No response. Since he can't hear, I take advantage of this.

  "I'm gonna clean your room, okay?"

  No answer. Well, he didn't exactly reject it so...

  After making his room sparkling, I come back into the living room to see him asleep on the couch. I kick him lightly.

  "Dinner you lazy bum."

  "Mm hmm."

  "UP UP UP!!!"

  "Ugh Maka. I'm up, I'm up."

  He puts his earbuds back in and starts walking towards the kitchen.

  "You're lucky you're cute."

  He doesn't hear me, thank gosh. Those stupid earbuds make it so he can't hear me ramble.

  We eat curry, then he goes back to his room. I follow him down the hall, heading also for my room.

  "You're pretty cool Soul, ya know? Maybe that's why I love you."

   Then I notice his earbuds are dangling over his shoulders, they're not in.

  "Maybe. I love you too."
