Who?

I opened my eyes to find a girl seated next to me with blond pigtails. She had her hand in mine, and her green eyes lit up once she saw me awake. It seemed as though I had died and come back to life from the happiness shone on her face. I leaned up and looked her in the eye, trying to remember.

"Soul?"

"Who?" I responded.

"Soul, you." I still wasn't sure of what she was talking about. "Soul Eater Evans?"

"Oh. And who are you?"

She sat with a hurt face, tears in her eyes. Her cheeks started to get damp due to the salty water droplets.

"What's wrong?" I asked frantically.

"I'm Maka, don't you remember?" She said.

Maka's P.O.V.

Soul had been in a motorcycle accident about a month ago, and has been in the hospital since. Everyday I visited, seeing if he would wake up. Clinging on to that one strand of hope, I told them not to take him off life support. I knew he would wake up, just not completely wiped of his memory. I thought of telling him the truth, but a better idea came to mind.

"I'm Maka, your girlfriend." I told him, hoping he wouldn't know I was making it up.

"Cool. I like that word. Cool. So where am I?"

  "In the DWMA hospital wing."

  "The what whatty what what?"

"The DWMA hospital wing. Death Weapon Miester Academy."

  "So, what am I?"

  "A weapon. My weapon."

He smirked at me and laid back down.

"So I love you?" He asked.

  "I think so."

  "Okay, I love you Maka."

  "I love you too."

______________
Years later
______________

I got out of bed, my white hair out of order. My name was Soul, and I would never forget that again. Though it was hard to get accustomed to my life since the accident, I still got through it all.

I tied my tie and buttoned up my suit as I heard the commotion outside while the sun rose higher and higher. I stepped out of the room and walked down a long hall to hear everyone settle down into their seats and stop talking. I walked into the big church room to see Blackstar give me a thumbs up and Kid smiling at me as I got into place.

The organ started as I saw Maka walk down the aisle, accompanied by her Papa. She was smiling and blushing as she passed friends and family, finally to reach the top of the staircase. She held her hands in mine as the priest began to speak the words I've been waiting to hear for years. Even though my memory had gone, some of it came back in little specks throughout my life. Maka smiling. Kid screaming for symmetry. Blackstar and Tsubaki fighting alongside us as we defeated the kishin. Many memories had come back, but there was one thing that confused me. There were none that contained Maka and I dating or in love. Isn't that strange?

...

"You may kiss the bride."

Oh well.
