I am mute. I wasn't always this way though. It was about four months ago when I couldn't speak anymore. When that day came upon me.
Soul was being normal one day, but the next he gave me some unwanted news.
"I have a girlfriend."
"That's great." I lied. "Who?"
"Her name is Meridith." Soul told me. "She sits with me in detention."
I stood, dumbfounded. I never thought Soul would get a girl, besides me.
"That's really good." I lied again.
"Well see ya." He said walking away with his hands in his pockets.
"Bye." That was the last word I spoke.
Now I just sit in my room, not talking to anyone. I skip most of my classes, and there's a very rare chance to see me. I only go out to shop for food and clothes. Never a movie. Never to go roller blading. Not anything. I just isolate myself, and I know my friends have stopped caring besides Tsubaki. She will never abandon me, and even if I don't talk back she will still talk to me.
I hear a knock at my door. I don't bother to answer, and the knocker comes in anyways. I look. It's Soul. He sits on my bed with his hands behind his head and starts talking to me about how his girlfriend dumped him. She supposedly went up to him and told Soul that she liked somebody else, and that ended it. Soul wasn't so sad though, he told me. He said he'd never had liked her anyway, and wasn't heartbroken.
"So, can I move back in?" He asked.
I nodded. He grinned.
" I also have one more question." He said.
I tilted my head to indicate that I wanted to hear what he had to say.
"If I asked you to become my girlfriend, would you say yes?"
"Yes."
We both grinned happily.
