ZACK POV
After a long, tiring day at work, I entered Kelly and I's suite, closed the door behind me, and dropped on the couch from exhaustion. You see, my wife Kelly and I live in Las Vegas, where we got married. Kelly got a job at the Planet Hollywood hotel as a hotel therapist. At the beginning, we were living in a very small apartment. Soon enough, the hotel generously let Kelly and I move into our own suite at the hotel, where we now live full time. I, for one, work at Barney's Music Shop as a guitar instructor. I get up and leave for work at 6:15 every morning, I give guitar lessons to kids one by one until, like, 8:30 at night, and I don't get home until almost 9. If I didn't have weekends off and vacations during special holidays and summer, spring, and winter, I don't know how I would survive.
Later on, I heard someone enter the suite. I tiredly opened my eyes from resting to see my beautiful wife, Kelly, standing in front of the door. "Hey, Kelly. How was your day today?" I asked. "It was good. Same old same old. What about you? How was work?" She asked as she sat next to me on the couch. "Um, well, it was good. Y'know, the usual" I replied. "Yeah, I can tell" she said before pecking my lips. "C'mon. Let's get some rest. We have a big day tomorrow" she said as she got up and left for our bedroom. I followed suit, knowing exactly what she was talking about.
Tomorrow was Saturday. Tomorrow we were going to meet with Dr. Whitney Ashton, our fertility specialist, to discuss our progress.
You see, for the past three years, Kelly and I have been trying to have a baby. The story is when we got married, we were both 19 years old. After our three month honeymoon in the Bahamas, we lived in Los Angeles to finish college. We talked about the possibility of starting a family, but we both agreed that we should finish college and settle down with our lives until we can bring another life into this world. We did finish college and we ended up moving to Las Vegas to, as Kelly puts it, "start a new chapter in our lives." So, when Kelly and I were 26 years old, we finally decided to begin expanding our family. Unfortunately, that was easier said than done. We first tried the natural way to conceive. For the record, Kelly and I were both virgins before we got married. Since Kelly and I were 26, we thought she could get pregnant easy as cherry pie. Unfortunately, nothing worked. When we were 31, we finally decided to try other options to try and get pregnant. We had already began living at Planet Hollywood full time for two months at this point. First, Kelly began taking fertility drugs that Dr. Ashton prescribed to her. After 5 months on the drugs, Kelly was still not pregnant. We stopped the drugs and began IVF. We officially began taking IVF three years ago. At this point, we were getting nervous since Kelly's biological clock was ticking and we were now becoming desperate to have a biological child. Kelly actually hates shots. Thankfully for the both of us, I was and am always happy to help her out when she needs me.
After three tries at IVF, Kelly did actually become pregnant. But, sadly, when she was 8 weeks pregnant, she started bleeding and we felt something was wrong. We went to the hospital and were informed that we had a miscarriage. Our baby was gone.
After the miscarriage, we tried IVF again. And again. And again.
Now, we are still doing IVF. Every Saturday, Dr. Ashton comes to our suite to meet with us and check to see if the treatment is working.
I want to have a baby more than anything. I'm doing everything I can to get Kelly pregnant. I would do anything just to finally have a baby. And I mean anything.
*the next day*
Dr. Ashton has been here for a while. Kelly was laying down on the couch, clearly anxious. I, being the helpful and supportive husband I am, held her hand and tried to comfort her while Dr. Ashton did some tests on her. After all the tests were done, Kelly sat up and I wrapped my arm around her. "Mr. and Mrs. Morris, as far as I can tell the IVF treatments are progressing well. Though, it is too soon to tell whether or not it has resulted in pregnancy. It should take another 6-8 weeks to fully detect whether or not you are pregnant" Dr. Ashton explained. I can feel Kelly tensing up beside me. I stroked her arm to let her know everything is going to be ok, but I could tell something was on her mind. I didn't think it was anything important. I was way too excited about the possibility of having a baby.
