23: Check Mate

Tommy and Tubbo searched around for anywhere that Dream could be.

Tommy would check on Ranboo occasionally. Ranboo had grown much paler. His and Tommy's shirts were drenched entirely in blood.

"Shit," Tubbo said as he opened the door to another empty room.

"Wait." The others halted. Ranboo sighed, coming to a grave realization. The others looked at Ranboo for any advice.

"Here, put me down please," Ranboo instructed. Tommy wanted to protest but Ranboo was serious.

"I think I know where Dream is," Ranboo told them. Tommy and Tubbo furrowed their brow and readied for anything wrong to occur.

Ranboo silently guided them through the twists and turns of the halls until he reached a hallway full of dorms.

Chapter 23: Check Mate

"This is mine and Y/N's dorm. Well, it was," Ranboo said, stopping at a specific door. Tommy and Tubbo felt a wave of sorrow in his voice.

"But that's not where we are headed," Ranboo continued. The trio came up to the last door down the hallway. Ranboo halted as he stared at the huge door in front of him.

"This is it," Ranboo said. He pressed his palm on the scanner to open the door. Ranboo took his hand off as the door started to slide open. A handprint of blood was left on the scanner.

"The training room," Ranboo informed. As the three of them walked in, they saw Dream. He was sitting on a chair menacingly. Tubbo furrowed his brow but Tommy tried to get into action.

(SFEN: when you sit menacingly)

"Calm down Tommy. We can't have you running off," Tubbo said. Tommy let his anger fade as he slowly began to calm down.

"You just don't know when to give up. And Ranboo, I see you found my sniper, too bad it was aimed for the Bee." Dream smirked and pointed a finger at Tubbo. Tubbo had a shocked expression but quickly composed himself to not show any sign of fear.

(SFEN: BEE BOI)

"Let me guess. You're here to kill me?" Dream asked sarcastically, grabbing a light from his pocket and lighting a cigarette. He huffed in and blew out a gray small cloud of smoke.

"Then you'll have no surprise when I drive my foot in your skull," Tommy stated. Dream only smiled.

"ENOUGH!" Ranboo yelled, teleporting behind Dream and holding him in a choke hold.

"You...w-wont last long," Dream hissed, pushing Ranboo's head back. Ranboo lost his grip, accidentally allowing Dream to stand up.

The others glared at Dream as he dusted off his suit.

Ranboo held his side, barely able to move.

"You can't kill me that easily." Dream casually adjusted his tie. Tubbo ran at him with his hand open but was quickly tripped, causing him to land on his face.

Tubbo grunted as he hit the ground and quickly tried to get up. After that he tried multiple times to hurt Dream, but Dream would simply step to the side.

"Tommy, I don't know how to fight," Tubbo huffed. He was clearly out of breath. Tommy opened his wings as wide as he could and threw a gust of wind.

Dream shifted to the side, dodging the attack. Tommy glared at him as he grabbed a toothpaste bomb from his pack.

"Ranboo!" Tommy yelled out. Ranboo nodded and teleported behind him. Dream threw his arm back and hit Ranboo.

He grunted in pain and stumbled as he tried to bring back his balance. Tommy's eyes pierced through Dream's stare.

(SFEN: dun dun dunnnnnnnnnn

Tubbo got up and ran at Dream, but Dream turned around and tripped him again. Tubbo groaned as Dream placed his foot on Tubbos chest to keep him down. Ranboo tried to reach out but his bullet wound caused him to step back.

Tommy lunged at Dream and tried to pull him off. As Dream struggled with Tommy Tubbo managed to raise his hand. He tried to reach for Dream's leg but he couldn't reach. He was slowly running out of breath.

"TUBBO NOW!" Tommy yelled in panic. Dream looked back as Ranboo teleported and helped Tubbo hit his palm into Dream's calf.

Dream stepped off of Tubbo as he tried to regain his balance.

"Checkmate." Dream smiled before he collapsed on the floor. Tubbo got up as he heaved for air, he stared at Dream's sleeping body.

"We did it!" Tommy yelled, they took a moment to catch their breath. Tommy grabbed the toothpaste bomb and looked at it until he got an idea.

As he began to carry through his plan he felt something stab his back. He yelled in pain as he realized it was a bruised and bleeding guard. Tubbo quickly hit them with his palm causing the guard to hit the ground.

Tommy winced in pain as he could feel his warm blood trickle down his back.

"Tommy are you ok?" Tubbo asked, wiping blood from his mouth. He wasn't in the best condition as well.

"Yeah I'm on, I need to finish this," Tommy said. Tubbo nodded and looked back at Dream. Tommy set off the grenade and placed it in his mouth.

"Oh wait, that's a horrible way to -" Tubbo started a weak protest but the explosion went off before he finished. Colorful foam poured from Dream's mouth and eyes.

(SFEN: seems oddly pretty somehow)

(A/n: I know right, I had a fascination with the idea when coming up with how I wanted his death to be.

With a bang.)

"I made my mark," Tommy said coldly. Ranboo looked at the guard who was sound asleep. He reached over for the guard's gun and pointed it at Dream.

He wanted to make sure he was dead. Tubbo placed a finger on his neck to find a pulse.

"He's dead," Tubbo said. the others stood up and nodded.

"We did it," Tommy whispered, his voice tinted with victory and relief.

Ranboo and Tubbo cheered and hugged each other. However, Tommy knew it wasn't over.

"We should take Y/N home, they deserve a proper funeral," Tommy commented sadly. The other two stopped their triumph and nodded.

Tommy looked at the glass and could barely keep his eyes on Y/N's lifeless body. He used the guards gun to break open the glass. His eyes opened wide.
