Chapter Fifteen

I felt out of place in the sea of suit wearers, I'd positioned myself so I could keep looking at the Gamers, who's table was opposite that of the Mentalists. I envied their easy and comfortable uniform, the DS weighed heavy in my hoodie pocket.
"Wakey, wakey !" Ge's fingers clicked before my eyes waking me from my trance, everyone's eyes were on me until Ge kissed my cheek
"This one!" He exclaimed, rolling his eyes at me. Once everyone had looked away he turned to me "long day?"
"Yeah, Glen had me working pretty hard..." I glanced quickly at him and then back at the AMA table. Their laughter seemed to fill the room, when Glen smiled she seemed to radiate sunshine.
"Nico?" My attention shifted back to Ge.
"I'm really not hungry, I might just go to bed." I went to get up,my eyes not quite reaching to look into his. But he grabbed my wrist and I sat to avoid a scene
"I can't-" he leans in closer and drop his voice "I can't read you. What's going on Nico?" I tried to pull away, looking him in the eyes now
"Nothing, Ge. I'm fine!" Raising my voice on the last world, his grip only became tighter
"What score did you get with the gamers-" his eyes were furious,
"Is everything okay boys?" Glens voice cut through Ge's fury
"Everything's fine! Now why don't you run along to your table?" His hand let go of my wrist, as he turned to sneer at Glen who only scowled back
"I'm not here for you, I'm here for Nico!" Glen smiled and looked from Ge's face to mine, the smile becoming more genuine
"I just wanted to wish you congratulations, on behalf of the AMA segment, for your ten this morning." She awkwardly shuffled and punched my arm, a little too hard
"It would be great to see you with us!" She looked from her shoes back to my eyes
"Yeah, sure. I've got kinda a big choice ahead of me." She nodded and as she went to head back to the gamers I jumped up and caught her arm
"I wanted to give this back to you" I reached into my pocket and grabbed out the DS. Her mouth opened in protest but she took it from me anyways, she didn't look at me but in her eyes I saw a kind of understanding. She nodded once and stuffed the DS into her own AMA hoodie pocket.
"It was great to see you work today Nico, and I hate to make you the new toy, but you really are special-" she stopped herself, as already half the eyes in the room were on her "I'm sure you've ben told that a million times already" she dropped her gaze and went to leave rubbing the back of her neck, just the way that Ge did.
"Actually, no ones ever made a point of that apart from my boyfriend-" I stopped for a second "ex-boyfriend" she smiled at me but didn't say anything then walked back to the Gamers and joined the laughing and fun again.
