Twenty-Seven

Will Solace made his way around the dim lighted and still hospital ward. His blond hair in his eyes and his jeans just low enough to show the band of his designer underwear. Having reached the end of the hall, and turning off the lights in each room, Will dropped the clip board on the front desk and, with a stretch and a yawn, left the ward. As the harpies began to nest, he walked not to his own cabin but to the hades cabin instead. His movements were fluid and familiar. Once inside the cabin he threw his camp t-shirt to the floor and feel straight to sleep, still clothed in his jeans but now shirtless, I could have watched him for hours just like I used to when I couldn't sleep. His steady breaths and perfect hair were enough for me to want to kiss him until he woke up. But I refrained then, much to my dismay now, for all I wanted was to kiss him and feel his warmth and safety all around me.
"Nico?" I heard a rap at the door and a voice that made me physically shudder
"Yeah?" I replied quickly, saying a whispered thank you to the mirror and shoving it in the nearest draw
"The doors locked, can I come in?" I got up and clicked the lock and turned away and sat back on my bed as Ge entered the room.
"Where have you been all day?" He asked, staying stood beside me "I asked everyone and the only person who had seen you was Sidney and she said that was this morning! Have you really been here all day?" I nodded, looking him in the eye and standing up and looking at myself in the full length mirror, as well as looking for a suit for tomorrow's practice.
"At least come down to dinner!" He asked moving closer to me
"I'm really not that hungry, Geof. I'll be okay." I could hear him breath a laugh behind me. He crossed the room in two strides and wrapped his arms from behind, around my waist and kissed the crease of my neck and shoulder before looking into my eyes in the mirror and whispering
"It's good I like 'em scrawny isn't it?" And with that he kissed my cheek again and left my room with a slam of the door, making me flinch.
As I lingered before the glass, I could see my white skeletal fingers, and only when removed my shirt did it really hit me. My ribs were not only visible but they were sticking out at angles where one shouldn't usually see bone. My abdomen seemed to concave, my skin stretched barley around my fragile frame.
It was becoming bad again, I was becoming bad again.

It was late. The knock on the door startled me. I yelled a moan it it from my bed and the door opened tentatively. I knew immediately it wasn't Ge, I pulled the chain on my bedside lamp and it illuminated a small looking Sidney in the doorway. She was wearing a polar bear onesie and what looked like pillows on her feet as slippers.
"Mind if I come in?" She asked and I nodded. She stepped around the door and closed it lightly, a gentile click.
"I brought you this-" she sat on the end of my bed, a small bundle of cloth in her lap
"What-?" I began but she shushed me and I obliged, replacing it with a yawn
"Now I've had plenty of demigod sisters and brothers as well as Environmentals that suffered from this, and I helped a lot of them. I couldn't help notice the same signs in you!" She continued to speak as she unloaded chocolate brownies and apples and other types of food and sodas.
"Sidney, stop! I don't understand what the hell your talking about!" I rubbed my eyes and she put the box of dried fruit and almonds down
"Nico I think you might have an eating disorder." Her voice was dead and almost lifeless, her eyes firmly planted in mine
"Yeah, so what?" I shrugged pulling my eyes from her grasp
"So what? Nico, you're at what looks like a critical level! So what!? So you could fucking die!" She leapt up and began to pace the room
"Sidney I don't want you to worry about me! I've been thinner than I am now, not by a lot but I have been thinner. As soon as I leave for the summer, my doctor boyfriend- ex-boyfriend" I stuttered "Will's going to help me. He did before! Fixed me up real good!" I beamed at her but she didn't smile at all
"By the summer Nico, you'll be dead. If you carry on training the way you do and eating as little as you are. There's no way you'll make it!"
"Sidney I want you to go!" I ordered. I didn't look at her and my glance didn't rise from the floor,
"What?" She asked, in a little disbelief
"I want you to leave!" I said again, my voice firm and unyielding.
"Okay, but just eat something okay?" I kept looking at my bed and after a while she left.

After, I lifted the pile of goodies into my empty suitcase and took a brownie. I sank my teeth onto the rich gooey cake only to find myself disappointed. My mind had played a cruel joke. I had expected the sweet yet bitter taste of Will's moms brownies but instead I was met with artificial chocolate flavouring and shop bought fake ness. I threw it out and went back to my bed were I lay comfortably and feel asleep, dreaming that Will's arms were extended around me.
