Unwanted Attention

As the morning sun rises, the massive aura of the Dragon dissipates. Many monsters start coming out of their homes. Some start to hunt for food, the other start showing their dominates to the other races. But there is one place in the forest that is peaceful, a place where 2 beings live. These two beings have tremendous strength, yet can disguise themselves as humans to others. They are the ones that watch over the forest and take care of the peaceful beings within it. However, unknown to them, a major occurrence started to appear in the massive forest.

Veldanava POV

I wake up from my slumber, and I see Rimuru next to me, sleeping peacefully. He got his arms hugging my chest, and looking straight at my arm. 'He sleeps so peacefully, it's a shame I will have to wake him up.' I thought.

I start to shake him gently, "Rimuru, wake up. We need to get ready to go back to town."

Rimuru: "Mmmmwahhh~ ok big brother." I turned back into a slime and stretched my body around.

We started the day as usual. Cooking the fish that was in the freezing room, eating with each other, and checking on the traps. Once things were settled we started heading to Asmarroth. Of course, I was carrying little Rimuru, he doesn't like walking a lot, and he wanted to sleep more.

At the Asmarroth Empire

We don't know why, but today just became bad to worse. This morning some 'Giant Bats' came to attack the city. At first, they were low in numbers, so about 10 guards including myself could slay them. However, soon after, many over 50 'Giant Bats', with 'Antomes(Ant*omes  Giant Ants)' underneath them came to this empire I call home. I am the general in the kingdom in charge of defense, but even so, I would have trouble dealing with this situation.

I went a random normal knight and said, "There are about 50 or more 'Giant Bats' with several 'Antomes' just beyond the gates of the empire! Report our situation to the king!"

Guard1: "Yes sir!" I went on my horse and started going to the castle towards the castle. 'How are we even going to fight that many! 10 of us could barely handle 4 'Giant Bats'!'

I went to another guard to send him for help as well. "You there, go to the adventurers guild and request for help! Tell them that there are 50 or more 'Giant Bats' and 'Antomes' beyond the gate!"

Guard2: "Sir!" I jumped on a horse and started heading to the adventurers guild. '50 of those monsters! That's ludicrous! How can there be so many in one place.' I started panicking.

I sighed, "I hope we can hold out, we are lucky that the tempest brothers are coming today." Yesterday, I checked the adventurers guild. To my surprise, I saw that Rimuru has gotten the rank of C+. I honestly thought that he would have an F, E, or D-rank at the most. "Everyone, focus on defense and artillery, use your bows and range magic to take them down! Help will arrive soon so you mustn't lose the will to fight! We will stand our ground and wait for reinforcements! Close the gate! Fire your attacks when I give the signal!"

All the Guards Present: "Yes sir!" "Gate Closing!" "They're coming closer!" "Magicians, start your spells!" "Knights and archers, ready your bows!"

"Everyone fire at will!" Many arrows and magic started flying towards the 'Giant Bats' and 'Antomes'. We were just barely holding out, I saw someone in the bushes of the forest with a wand in his hand. It looks like this person was casting healing magic on the beast. As soon as the person noticed me staring, they disappeared without a trace.
