Dear Steven,
Telling me you did not want me to go made me feel like I was sinking to the bottom of the sea. I cannot explain it better than that, although I should like to try when I see you again.
You should know I wrote and threw away this very message in my indecisiveness. Such an admission is not something I might verbally be capable of telling you, but something is making me write it down nonetheless.
It is terribly dull here without you, please write back.
Your Friend,
James
