He had already been at the Poughkeepsie police department two years when the first life changing call came in.
"Hey, Price, get your cocky ass over here!"
"Just a minute, Chief!" Colt shouted, Pushing himself away from his desk and making towards his boss's office. Sheriff Orianna Bluekiron was tapping her foot impatiently outside her door. The top of her head barely came up to Colt's shoulder, but the blonde still managed to scare him.
"You rang, Sheriff?" He asked with a smirk, always one to flirt his fears away. Orianna rolled her eyes and motioned towards the door to the garage where the patrol cars were kept.
"Let's go. A lady just called in a possible assault, and it sound like the victims are brawlers. I want you helping out with this one." She pushed open the door and set her sights on one of the smaller cars, then jogged over to it and swung herself in. Colt followed.
"Right. Brawler solidarity. Got it," Colt muttered, seemingly already planning out what he was going to do. Orianna sighed.
"It's not just because you're a brawler, Price, you're also a damn good cop, and a charismatic one at that. Charisma is a good thing at the right times."
Colt crossed one leg over the other and leaned back in his seat. "Yet I always get yelled at whenever I open my mouth."
"Yes, Price, because half of the time when you open your mouth, the only thing that comes out is your last two braincells." Colt chuckled and ran a quick double check on his gear.
"So, 'disturbing the peace' I'm guessing?"
"Yep. Some asshole ripping a couple of brawlers a new one in the park, and being pretty loud about it."
"Murphy?"
"Mansion. A lady there with her kid called it in. Sounds like the brawlers were just going for a stroll and a runner told them to leave or he'd deck them. Brawlers tried to calm him down, and the rest is history."
Colt sucked in a breath between his teeth. "No blows yet?"
"No, but I wouldn't be surprised if we end up stopping a beatdown."
A couple minutes of tense silence later, the duo arrived at the park. It wasn't difficult to locate the jogger or the brawlers, seeing as the jogger's screaming could be heard from the edge of the park.
"Sheriff?"
"Yes Colt?"
"How long ago did that call come in?"
"About fifteen minutes ago, I know, that's a while. Let's move." Orianna began running towards the shouting, followed closely by Colt.
"..So you better get your radioactive asses out of our park before I beat you out!"
"Sir, please, we don't mean any-"
"Like hell you don't!"
"Excuse me, what's going on here?" Orianna asked. A man who Colt assumed was the jogger, judging by his athletic gear, stepped forward.
"These mistakes are intruding on this park!"
Colt held in a sigh, already feeling a headache building. He put on what he hoped was a placating expression and stepped over so he could easily slide between the joggers and the brawlers if the need arose. "Sir, this is public property, these two are allowed to walk in it if they please."
"They're planning something!"
Orianna pinched the bridge of her nose. "Sir, for all you know, they could've been planning a picnic. Please just leave, we'll talk to them."
