Setting the books on the table, I took a seat and started working. If I have to win this bet, I better start working on it from now on.

It was Sunday afternoon which means it has been two days since the bet and this is how every single free minute of mine has been passing.

I even skipped lunch yesterday to stay here in the library (much to Laura's disbelief).

Hours passed and my eyes were fixed on the books that I read. The only movement was done by hands to flip the page, change the book or copy down notes.

One by one, the pile of unread books started decreasing and the stack of read books began increasing.

Once done with all of them, I checked the time. It was nearly dinner so I packed my things and started heading towards the aisles to keep the books back.

While leaving the library when I was done, my mind wandered around the time I had a conversation with my best friends at night the day before yesterday.

"I legit abandoned my novel to accompany you to the kitchens and this is what you come up with?!", I asked in disbelief.

"You are making it sound like novels are better than food", Laura rolled her eyes.

"Of course they are! Novels are superior. They are an escape from reality. They are a comfort place. They are-"

"Alright I get it!", Laura interrupted.

"Whatever. I am NEVER using your idea", I answered her and looked around to see Clare taking out a parchment and quill.

"What are you doing Clars?" I asked as I saw her settling them in front of me. I raised an eyebrow at her in a questioning manner.

She started writing on it and answered, "I am just helping you Athy."

Once she was done, she handed me the parchment and I read what was written on it.

RULES AND WAYS OF WINNING OVER YOUR ENEMY
-By Clare Maddox

My eyes lit up the moment I read the heading.

"I love you Clars, do you know that?"

"Of course", she grinned.

Both of us set to work as we thought
of the ways we could make sure that I was always ahead.

"You know, my idea is still better. Those ways or rules will lead you to nothing", Laura's voice was heard.

I glared at the red haired girl and she simply shrugged.

"Do you have any idea how bizarre your idea sounds L?", I scoffed.

"Exactly L. You really expect her to make him fall for her? Like Remus Lupin falling for the girl he has been competing with for more than four years? You are completely out of your mind", Clare said.

"It's the best we have got because Athy, no offence, but he is slightly, just a tiny bit, better than you. You know, with only 1 or 2 marks."

By this time, I was so pissed off that the look on my face was so dangerous that, for once, even Laura didn't find it cute or funny.

"I didn't know you have the ability to look intimidating also", she nervously chuckled.

I just raised an eyebrow at her.
