"Happiest sixteenth birthday sweetheart", I crouched down and whispered in Remus ear. He stirred in his sleep and a small smile broke on his face. He turned to face me and opened half of his eyelids.
"Thankyou", he said.
I smiled widely and turned to look at rest of the marauders who stood there with mouth hanging. "See, it's so easy to wake him up. You guys really exaggerate things", I rolled my eyes.
"That's the first time he has woken up on anyone's first call", James said.
"Yeah yeah", I replied sarcastically.
"I am not joking!", he tried to convince me.
Ignoring him, I turned back to look at Remus who was staring at me with the smallest of smiles.
"What?"
"Nothing. It's just that... you are a sight for sore eyes", he complimented with a lopsided smile.
"And you", I leaned forward so that only he could hear, "are a snack." I winked.
His eyes went wide and a very cute blush crept on his neck. I laughed.
"I never knew hufflepuffs can be so dirty minded", he shook his head.
"Trust me Remus, hufflepuffs are the most dirty minded people you would ever meet", I grinned.
"Can you leave now Athea? We need to.. you know.. get ready", Peter said.
"Sure", I answered back.
----
The sunlight warmed our faces and the breeze softly caressed our hair. Remus and I were sitting in the open grounds near the Black Lake.
We had cut his birthday cake (chocolate flavour, if that wasn't obvious) before in the kitchens with a lot of people, and by that I mean half of the Gryffindors, Hufflepuff trio, Marlene and Dorcas.
I sat beside him with my head on his shoulder and our fingers intertwined.
"Is this the right time to give you your birthday gift?", I asked softly.
He looked down at me. "Athea you didn't have to."
"But I wanted to", I shrugged.
Pulling away from him and sitting cross legged to see his reaction properly, I placed my hand in one of my pocket to bring out his wrapped birthday present. "It's not much but I hope you like it."
He took the box from my hand and opened the lid. Inside it was a silver bracelet with a heart-shaped charm dangling from it.
"Go on, open the heart", I said.
He looked at me before taking out the bracelet. Once he opened the charm, a soothing sound started playing.
He looked at me confused.
"I read that werewolves tend to bite and scratch themselves when they are alone or when they want to hunt but don't find anyone to. The only situation when they don't do this is when they are in a pack.
That sound is found out to relax wolves in general. If you open it before transforming, it will probably calm down your wolf form preventing you from attacking yourself, and even humans in most cases, until provoked. It acts like a distraction, just like the presence of other animals does. It won't be as beneficial as a wolf pack but according to my theories, it will probably help a lot.
Also, I used magic to make the bracelet flexible so you don't have to worry about it breaking if you transform while wearing it. You can even set the volume with the little button present on the side. Aaannd it's unbreakable", I finished and smiled.
